SMOK LP1 and LP2 Coil Compatibility Chart, Plus Vape Pen, TA, M and D Coils

LP1 and LP2 are separate SMOK coil families, and SMOK lists them for different pods. SMOK lists LP1 coils for the Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro pods, and LP2 coils for the LP2 pods of the Nord 50W, RPM 4, G-Priv Pod, G-Priv Pro Pod, Morph Pod-80 and Morph S Pod-80. Four more small SMOK coil families each pair with their own tank or pod in SMOK’s listings: Vape Pen coils, TA coils for the T-Air Subtank, M coils for the Tech247 and D coils for the TF-D Subtank. The chart below covers 19 devices and tanks, checked against SMOK’s own pages.

At a glance
LP1 vs LP2 Different coils for different pods. SMOK lists LP1 for the Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro, and LP2 for six other devices' LP2 pods.
LP2 shares devices with RPM The Nord 50W and RPM 4 come with an LP2 pod plus a second pod for Nord or RPM coils. The pod decides the coil.
Vape Pen coils SMOK lists Vape Pen coils for the Vape Pen V2, Vape Pen 22 and Vape Pen Tank. It lists Nord coils, not Vape Pen coils, for the Vape Pen Nord kits.
TA, M and D SMOK lists TA coils for the T-Air Subtank (Mag Solo, Morph 3), M coils for the Tech247 pod, and D coils for the TF-D Subtank (X-Priv Plus, X-Priv Solo).

How SMOK's small coil families work

SMOK names each replaceable coil series and lists which pods or tanks it fits. A coil fits a device only through a pod or tank built for it, so the question to ask is which pod or tank you have, not which battery. Here are the six small coil families this guide covers:

  1. LP1: low-wattage coils from 0.8Ω to 1.2Ω for the Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro pods.
  2. LP2: 0.23Ω, 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω coils for the LP2 pods of the Nord 50W, RPM 4, G-Priv Pod, G-Priv Pro Pod, Morph Pod-80 and Morph S Pod-80.
  3. Vape Pen: coils for the Vape Pen V2, Vape Pen 22 and Vape Pen Tank.
  4. TA: coils for the T-Air Subtank, the tank on the Mag Solo and Morph 3 kits.
  5. M: coils for the Tech247 pod.
  6. D: coils for the TF-D Subtank, the tank on the X-Priv Plus and X-Priv Solo kits.

None of the SMOK pages we checked says a coil is “not compatible” with anything. SMOK lists where each coil goes. When a coil isn’t listed for your pod or tank, we don’t recommend it there.

The SMOK LP1, LP2 and small coil compatibility chart

Each row shows the coil family SMOK lists for that device or tank on an official SMOK page: the product page, the official store, or SMOK’s coil and pod compatibility guide. Device names link to the kit on Black Note where we carry it. Output is SMOK’s spec for the device.

LP1 coils: Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro

SMOK’s compatibility guide lists LP1 coils for three kits: the Novo 4, the Pozz Pro and the Novo 4 Mini. Each device has its own empty pod, and SMOK lists the same LP1 coils for all three. The Pozz Pro box says “LP1 Coils Compatible,” and SMOK’s Novo 4 page shows the Novo 4 pod with an LP1 coil pre-installed.

The LP1 coil range, per SMOK
Coil Wattage (SMOK) SMOK notes
LP1 Meshed 0.9Ω MTL (Turbo Meshed) Best 17W Marked kit-included on SMOK’s store chart
LP1 Meshed 0.9Ω MTL Best 15W The coil in the Pozz Pro kit
LP1 Meshed 0.8Ω Best 12W Pre-installed in the Novo 4 kit pod
LP1 DC 0.8Ω MTL 12W to 25W Spare coil in the Novo 4 kit
LP1 Meshed 1.2Ω 10W to 15W Sold separately

We stock all five in SMOK LP1 replacement coils, in 5-packs. For the pods, buy Novo 4 pods for the Novo 4 and Novo 4 Mini pods for the Novo 4 Mini. SMOK lists a separate empty pod for each device and doesn’t say the two pods swap.

SMOK rates the Novo 4 and Pozz Pro at 5W to 25W; we found no live SMOK spec page for the Novo 4 Mini. Our reviews of the Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro cover each device.

LP2 coils: which devices use them, and where LP2 meets RPM

SMOK’s compatibility guide lists LP2 coils for six kits: the Morph Pod-80, Morph S Pod-80, Nord 50W, RPM 4, G-Priv Pod and G-Priv Pro Pod. On four of them the LP2 coil goes in a specific pod: the Nord 50W empty LP2 pod, the RPM 4 LP2 pod and the G-Priv empty LP2 pod (shared by both G-Priv kits). SMOK’s Morph Pod-80 LP2 pod covers both Morph Pod-80 kits.

The LP2 coil range, per SMOK
Coil Wattage (SMOK) SMOK notes
LP2 Meshed 0.23Ω DL 20W to 45W Direct to lung; pre-installed in the Nord 50W and RPM 4 LP2 pods
LP2 DC 0.6Ω MTL 15W to 25W Mouth to lung, dual coils
LP2 Meshed 0.4Ω Not stated by SMOK In SMOK’s compatibility guide only

We carry these in SMOK LP2 replacement coils.

Where LP2 overlaps the RPM family. SMOK also lists RPM-family or Nord coils for several LP2 devices, through a different pod:

  • Nord 50W: the kit includes an LP2 pod (4mL) and a Nord pod (4.5mL) for Nord coils, and SMOK sells an RPM pod (4mL) for RPM coils separately. SMOK’s pod labels read “Compatible with LP2 coil series,” “Compatible with nord coil series” and “compatible with RPM coil series.”
  • RPM 4: the kit includes an RPM 4 LP2 pod and an RPM 4 RPM pod, both 5mL. SMOK says the LP2 pod is “Compatible with two LP2 coils” and the RPM pod is “Compatible with all RPM coils.”
  • G-Priv Pod and G-Priv Pro Pod: SMOK lists an empty LP2 pod and an empty RPM 2 pod, both 5.5mL.
  • IPX 80 and Nord 4: SMOK lists only RPM and RPM 2 pods for these, with no LP2 pod. If you have one of them, see RPM coils and RPM 2 coils instead.

So on a dual-pod device, match the coil to the pod in your hand: LP2 coils in the LP2 pod, RPM coils in the RPM pod, Nord coils in the Nord pod. Our reviews of the Nord 50W, RPM 4, G-Priv Pod and G-Priv Pro Pod cover those devices.

SMOK Vape Pen coils: Vape Pen V2, Vape Pen 22 and Vape Pen Tank

SMOK’s compatibility guide lists the Vape Pen coil series for the Vape Pen V2 kit, the Vape Pen 22 kit and the Vape Pen Tank. The Vape Pen Tank page says it “adopts coils from VAPE PEN 22.” The Vape Pen V2 page lists five coils:

Vape Pen coils on SMOK’s Vape Pen V2 page
Coil SMOK spec SMOK notes
Vape Pen Meshed 0.15Ω 30W to 50W In the Vape Pen V2 kit (two coils)
Vape Pen DC 0.6Ω 12W to 25W Optional
Vape Pen 22 0.3Ω 0.3Ω dual coils Optional; pre-installed in the Vape Pen 22
Vape Pen 0.25Ω 0.25Ω dual coils Optional
Vape Pen Strip 0.15Ω 0.15Ω coil Optional

The Vape Pen 22 page shows the 0.3Ω dual coil pre-installed and the Mesh 0.15Ω and Strip 0.15Ω as options. We carry the 0.15Ω mesh coil that comes in the Vape Pen V2 kit as SMOK Vape Pen mesh coils. SMOK rates the Vape Pen V2 at up to 60W with a 0.14Ω to 3.0Ω load range.

Watch the name: the Vape Pen Nord 19 and Vape Pen Nord 22 kits are not on the Vape Pen coil list. SMOK’s guide lists them under Nord coils, so they take Nord coils.

TA, M and D coils: T-Air, Tech247 and TF-D

Each of these three families serves one tank or pod.

D-Coil Meshed 0.4Ω TF-D Subtank 25W to 35W, best 25W D coils
  • TA coils: the Mag Solo and Morph 3 kits both ship with the T-Air Subtank, a TA 0.2Ω coil pre-installed and a spare TA 0.4Ω. SMOK’s store pairs TA coils with the Mag Solo, Morph 3 and T-Air Subtank. See our T-Air Subtank review and Morph 3 review.
  • M coils: the M-Coil box says “Compatible with: tech247 Empty Pod.” The Tech247 kit ships with the 0.8Ω pre-installed and a spare 0.6Ω. SMOK lists the Tech247 pod at 4mL (2mL in the EU edition). Our Tech247 review covers the device.
  • D coils: SMOK says the TF-D Subtank is “compatible with the D-COIL Series.” The X-Priv Plus kit pairs it at 5.5mL and the X-Priv Solo kit at 3.5mL, each with a D-Coil 0.15Ω pre-installed and a spare 0.23Ω. SMOK notes the bulb glass included in both standard kits offers 5.5mL.

A few SMOK devices come up in the same searches, but SMOK doesn’t list any of these six families for them:

  • ProPod GT: SMOK says it “has all novo/novo 2/novo 2X series Pods covered” and ships with Novo pods (meshed 0.8Ω and 0.6Ω). See the ProPod GT kit.
  • Acro: SMOK lists its own Acro pods, named by resistance (meshed 0.8Ω, DC 0.6Ω and DC 1.0Ω in SMOK’s guide).
  • IPX 80 and Nord 4: SMOK lists only RPM and RPM 2 pods, as covered above.
  • Vape Pen Nord 19 and Nord 22: SMOK lists them under Nord coils, not Vape Pen coils.

What SMOK's pages don't settle

We built this chart from SMOK’s own pages only, and a few of them disagree or leave gaps. Here’s where, and what we did about it:

  • The LP2 0.4Ω coil. SMOK’s compatibility guide lists it, but the Nord 50W and RPM 4 pages show only the 0.23Ω and 0.6Ω, and the RPM 4 pod image says “Compatible with two LP2 coils.” No SMOK page gives the 0.4Ω a wattage.
  • LP2 coil names vary. The guide calls the 0.23Ω a “DC coil,” while the product pages and store call it a “DL Coil.”
  • The G-Priv Pod. SMOK’s G-Priv blog post says the kit comes with “a 0.2-ohm mesh coil” and “a 0.4-ohm regular coil,” which doesn’t match any LP2 or RPM 2 coil SMOK lists. We followed the compatibility guide’s LP2 and RPM 2 pod listing.
  • No product pages for the Novo 4 Mini, G-Priv Pod, G-Priv Pro Pod, Morph Pod-80 or Morph S Pod-80. Their rows come from SMOK’s coil and pod compatibility guide.
  • Vape Pen coil lists differ. The guide adds a Vape Pen X4 0.4Ω coil that the product pages don’t show, and the Vape Pen V2 page lists a 0.3Ω dual coil that the guide doesn’t. We found no SMOK wattage for the 0.3Ω, 0.25Ω or Strip coils.
  • D-Coil 0.4Ω. It appears on the X-Priv Plus page and in SMOK’s store, but not on the store’s D-Coil chart image. SMOK prints its best wattage as 25W, the bottom of its 25W to 35W range.
  • The T-Air Subtank page shows only the TA 0.2Ω and 0.15Ω Dual; the Mag Solo, Morph 3 and store pages add the TA 0.4Ω.

If you’re not sure a coil fits, stick with one SMOK lists for your pod or tank in the chart. If a coil doesn’t seat firmly, don’t force it.

Pairing SMOK coils with Black Note tobacco e-liquid

As a general rule (our guidance, not SMOK’s), coils of about 1.0Ω and up, such as the LP1 Meshed 1.2Ω (10W to 15W per SMOK), run at low power and suit Black Note salt nicotine and Black Note 50/50 tobacco e-liquids. Lower-resistance coils of about 0.8Ω and below, such as the LP1 0.8Ω, the LP2 and M coils, and the sub-ohm Vape Pen, TA and D tank coils, pair with thicker 70VG/30PG e-liquid.

Not sure which strength or blend to start with? Take the Vape Quiz and get matched to a strength, device and tobacco e-liquid in about 60 seconds. Using a Vaporesso device as well? Our XROS pod compatibility chart covers every XROS.

Frequently asked questions

SMOK lists LP2 coils for the Nord 50W, RPM 4, G-Priv Pod, G-Priv Pro Pod, Morph Pod-80 and Morph S Pod-80, fitted in each device’s LP2 pod. The IPX 80 and Nord 4 are not on that list; SMOK lists RPM and RPM 2 pods for them. Shop SMOK LP2 coils.

Not according to SMOK’s listings. SMOK lists LP1 for the Novo 4, Novo 4 Mini and Pozz Pro, and LP2 for the LP2 pods of six other devices, and no SMOK page lists either family for the other’s pods. LP1 coils run from 0.8Ω to 1.2Ω at up to 25W, while the LP2 0.23Ω runs at 20W to 45W. Buy LP1 coils or LP2 coils to match your pod.

No. SMOK lists them as separate coil series, but some devices take both through different pods. The RPM 4 kit includes an LP2 pod and an RPM pod, SMOK sells an RPM pod for the Nord 50W separately for RPM coils, and SMOK lists both an LP2 pod and an RPM 2 pod for the G-Priv Pod. Put the coil in the pod SMOK labels for it.

SMOK Vape Pen coils. The kit ships with two Vape Pen Meshed 0.15Ω coils (30W to 50W), and SMOK lists the DC 0.6Ω, the Vape Pen 22 0.3Ω, the 0.25Ω and the Strip 0.15Ω as options. We carry the Vape Pen mesh coils and the Vape Pen V2 kit.

TA coils. The Mag Solo and Morph 3 kits both use the T-Air Subtank. SMOK’s Mag Solo and Morph 3 pages list the TA 0.2Ω, TA 0.4Ω and TA 0.15Ω Dual, and its store links TA coils to the Mag Solo, Morph 3 and T-Air Subtank. Shop SMOK TA coils or read our T-Air Subtank review.

The TF-D Subtank, which SMOK pairs with the X-Priv Plus and X-Priv Solo kits. SMOK lists the D-Coil in meshed 0.15Ω, 0.23Ω and 0.4Ω. Shop SMOK D coils or see the X-Priv Plus kit.
