Special Blend Menthol

Strengths shown in the selector change with stock. No single number fits everyone, and a higher number is not a better choice. Menthol adds a throat sensation of its own, so there is no need to reach high: a pack-a-day menthol smoker usually starts at 20 mg salt in a pod; menthol lights, 3 or 6 mg in 50VG/50PG. One customer who started at 50 mg salt wrote that 30 mg let the flavor through better; the selector shows both.

For salt and 50/50, use a mouth-to-lung pod or tank with a coil of 0.8Ω or higher at modest wattage. For 70/30, use a sub-ohm tank or pod mod with mesh coils. The paired device options above are the ones we stock, so choose from there, or let the Vape Quiz match you.

Coil-friendly, in plain words: after natural extraction, Special Blend Menthol goes through an extra distillation and micro-filtration step that removes the plant particles and heavier residues that build up on a coil. With no sweeteners in it either, you can run the same coil for up to 35mL before it needs replacing, which is more than a full 30mL bottle of salt. That is measured against our own richer blends, Menthol Tobacco included, which leave more behind and ask for a coil change sooner.

The propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are USP and Kosher certified.

The mint is the part worth reading twice. Our menthol comes from Mentha arvensis, a mint chosen because it contains no pulegone, a compound the FDA banned as a synthetic food additive that still shows up in many mint and menthol e-liquids. Most menthol vape juice is an ice-flavor formula with no tobacco underneath; ours is tobacco first, pulegone-free mint on top.

Special Blend Menthol contains no artificial flavors, added sweeteners, diacetyl, acetyl propionyl, acetoin, characterizing flavors, dyes, or synthetic nicotine. The ≈0 mg/ml option contains trace naturally occurring nicotine from tobacco extract. Do not choose it if you need a nicotine-free product.

We steep real sun-cured Oriental leaf in a cold maceration for six to eight weeks, filter and blend it in small batches, run it through the extra distillation and micro-filtration step, and add the natural mint last, so the tobacco is the base and the menthol is the finish. It moves through the same nine steps as every Black Note blend, plus that one, and from field to bottle the full process can take up to three years. That time, plus small-batch extraction from real leaf, is the product difference behind the price.

When Special Blend Tobacco proved that an extra distillation and micro-filtration step could keep the taste of real leaf while making the liquid easy on small coils, the same step was applied to the menthol. Special Blend Menthol is the result: the original menthol’s tobacco and pulegone-free mint, purified for all-day pod use. It is the newest blend in the line and the menthol most menthol smokers pick.
