Expedited shipping

Expedited shipping upgrades are available by contacting [email protected] or calling 1-800-949-3095 immediately after placing the order. Expedited fees vary by destination and are quoted before the upgrade is applied.

Standard shipping times may not apply to holidays or during a global pandemic, as we will be overwhelmed with orders during these periods. However, we work overtime to get your orders out to you as quickly as possible during the holidays.

Domestic U.S. orders generally take between 2 – 5 days for delivery. However, delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed delivery times and depend on the following:

  • Your location
  • Bad weather often affects shipping times. For example, during high seasons, such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day, and when Federal holidays fall on a Monday, USPS takes much longer to deliver the packages than through the ordinary course of the year.

If you elect to return a non-defective product for an order that received free shipping, please be advised that you will be responsible for the cost of the initial shipping fee. The cost of the initial shipping fee will be deducted from the refund amount and is non-refundable.

Absolutely! Please email [email protected] requesting a refund or exchange, and we will take care of it for you.

Are you experiencing a shipping-related issue? Don’t worry; our dedicated team will do everything we possibly can to help resolve the problem for you as quickly as possible. Of course, you can always contact us for assistance; however, before doing so, we kindly ask you to read through the section below, which will help answer some of the most common shipping questions.

If your tracking number is not updating, let us sincerely apologize. As Black Note pays extra fees, we share your frustration to ensure a tracking number accompanies every package. However, tracking numbers are generally updated at 7:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time).

Unfortunately, once we hand over your package to the shipping carrier, it is up to them to scan the tracking number at each stage of the delivery process to provide you with updated tracking information. Sometimes they need to update the tracking information as it should. However, please rest assured that this does not mean we did not ship your package.

We stand behind our policy of shipping your packages the same day if we receive your order by 4:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time). So, even if the tracking number only reads “Shipping Label Created” or “Arrived at the Sort Facility,” you can be confident that your order has been shipped and is on the way to you.

We are sorry your order shows as having been delivered, but the package is not in your possession. Therefore, we pay an additional fee for each box to be accompanied by a tracking number. This is for your benefit so that you can track your order as it is en route to you and allow us to verify the package has indeed reached you.

If the tracking information states that the order has been delivered, we, unfortunately, must determine that this is, in fact, the case. This is because a company policy whereby we send out a second package or issue a refund when a claim is made that the original order never reached our customer is not sustainable.

Many individuals would take advantage of this type of policy and claim a lost package when they did receive it. As such, Black Note cannot guarantee package delivery under any circumstance. Black Note will not re-ship or refund any order marked as delivered by the carrier. All reimbursements, if any, will be made through the specific courier after a claim has been won. However, rest assured that we will not leave you to fend for yourself if this occurs. We will help you through all the steps necessary to file a claim with the shipping company.

It is imperative to note that if your tracking number shows that the package has been delivered but has not reached you, you must notify us within 24 hours from the time the package was marked as having been delivered. We sincerely apologize, but if we are not informed within the 24-hour time frame, there will be no recourse available.

Before you panic, please attempt the following solutions, as the vast majority of the time, one of the next will resolve the problem:

SOLUTION 1: Often, when the package shows as having been delivered, it is left with the manager or leasing office of your apartment/condominium complex or Po Box. Please check with them to see if they have your package.

SOLUTION 2: Most condominium and apartment complexes provide the residents with a small mailbox that can only fit envelopes and magazines but cannot fit boxes and packages. When a resident receives a package, the postman will place it in a larger mailbox dedicated to bigger items, then will place the key to the larger box inside of your mailbox. Please check for this key to see if that is where it has been left for you.

SOLUTION 3: Sometimes when the package shows as having been delivered, but you don’t have the package it is because you made a minor typo when entering your shipping address. For example, you typed the street address as “8465” rather than “4865.” Please check your shipping confirmation email to see what address was entered. If you realize that the wrong address was entered, you can go to the address it was delivered to and attempt to recover your package.

SOLUTION 4: If none of the above solutions resolves the issue, please immediately visit your nearest post office. Please provide them with your tracking number and any information they request, then ask them to speak to a supervisor or the Postmaster. Once you are in touch with a supervisor or Postmaster, ask them to check with the specific carrier who delivered the package to your address to confirm that it was in fact delivered, and if so, specifically where the package was left. We have seen a packaging recovery of nearly 100% with a physical visit to the local post office, as well as a conversation with the PostMaster.

Please first allow us to sincerely apologize for the delay in receiving your package. We know how frustrating it can be to expect an item to be delivered by a specific date but fail to reach you—mainly when you are very excited about receiving your order. Please understand that Black Note takes painstaking measures to get your orders out as quickly as possible. Orders placed by 4:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time) are shipped out the same day. Orders placed after that time will ship out the very next business day.

We wholeheartedly wish that we had complete control over the entire delivery process. Still, unfortunately, once the package has been handed to the post office, we are entirely at their mercy. We have no control whatsoever over delivery times once the package has been placed in their possession. We completely understand your frustration, but please know that there is absolutely nothing we can do.

We are very sorry that you have not received your package. We genuinely share your frustration and will do everything in our power to assist you. Please understand that we take very costly and thorough measures to offer the industry’s fastest free shipping and best customer service. However, unfortunately, the one aspect of the delivery process that we have no control over it once the package has been handed over to the Post Office. At that point, we are regretfully entirely at their mercy. Please rest assured that we will not leave you to deal with this on your own—we will work with you diligently to help resolve the problem. If you are experiencing this issue, please follow the steps below to assist you best.

Step 1: Send Us an Email to Alert Us About The Problem

Let us know that you have yet to receive the package to make a note of it in our system. This way, if the package does not arrive, we will be able to locate your file and help you with the process of filing a claim.

Although this situation is highly frustrating, please don’t panic, as we have seen a near 100% recovery rate. We are here to help you through this, and together we are confident that your package will be found and delivered to you.

Black Note ships internationally to many countries. We are constantly working on adding more countries to the list; however, if your country is not an option when entering your shipping address, we have unfortunately yet to open up to your location.

Please ensure you understand the laws regarding electronic cigarettes in your country. Black Note cannot be responsible for packages that are seized by customs due to laws prohibiting the sale of electronic cigarette devices.

Black Note cannot pay the duty fees and taxes that your country may require for imported goods. However, once your package passes through customs, they may need you to pay a small customs tax, which is standard for any country.

Important Note: Black Note does not assume any liability for packages shipped internationally once the package has been handed to the delivery company.

Please note that it is the customer’s responsibility to enter the correct delivery address details for both domestic and international orders at the time of ordering. If the customer enters the incorrect or incomplete address and goods are delivered to the wrong address, we are under no obligation to issue a refund or send replacement goods. Likewise, if goods are returned to us because they have been sent to the wrong address, we are not obliged to re-send them at our expense; however, a refund will be offered less the postal cost. If you notice that you have provided incorrect or incomplete details, please contact us for assistance.

Please ensure that you understand and agree to the statements in our Shipping section before placing your order.

Black Note reserves the right to refuse sales or service to any individual.

When a card issuing bank receives an authorization request for a charge, they will confirm that the card number is valid and verify that there are available funds to cover the requested amount. If the funds are available, the card issuing bank will reserve the funds, and return an authorization code that allows you to claim the funds during settlement.

The card issuing bank also compares the cardholder’s billing address on file to the address submitted with the transaction. The bank then returns an AVS response code along with the authorization code that indicates whether or not the billing address matches the bank’s records.

However, even if a transaction is declined due to an AVS Mismatch or other reasons, the authorization code and the hold on the authorized funds will remain on the customer’s card until the card issuing bank removes the authorization. As a result, the held funds may be subtracted from the customer’s available balance, and an online statement may show the authorization request, which might be mistaken for an actual charge.

Most card issuing banks will remove authorizations within 3-7 days if they are not claimed for settlement.

Eliquids

Additionally, the list below highlights the differences in quality when comparing our naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids to the artificially flavored and chemically-treated vape liquids currently on the market.

  • We Only Use Natural Extraction: All of our vape liquids are naturally extracted tobacco vape liquids. Nothing we produce is artificially made in a lab. Learn More
  • Our eliquids don’t contain chemicals like diacetyl, acetyl propionyl, ethylene glycol, acrolein, and acetoin.
  • Our 9-Step Process Takes 3 Years: It takes us three years to perfect our blends. Our process takes longer, but it produces the highest quality eLiquid. Learn More
  • We Only Use High-quality Ingredients: We only use natural ingredients in our eLiquids. We don’t use artificial flavors, sweeteners, or synthetic nicotine in our e-liquids. Did you know flavored tobacco products are now banned in California?
  • We Produce Our Vape Liquids in Small Batches: How we make natural tobacco vape liquid is a slow process requiring more time, labor, and smaller batches. It’s not cheap, but it does produce a higher quality eLiquid.

Black Note 50VG/50PG and salt nicotine e-liquids are formulated for low-wattage mouth-to-lung (MTL) pod systems. Using these formulations in a sub-ohm device or at high wattage causes several specific problems, explained below along with the reasoning.

What goes wrong when you exceed these specs

  • Leaking: Thin 50VG/50PG liquid wicks faster than the coil can vaporize it at high wattage, which floods the pod and leaks out of airflow holes.
  • Harsh throat hit: High wattage vaporizes more liquid per puff. With 50/50 or salt nicotine, this delivers a sharp, burning throat hit rather than the smoother cigarette-like draw the formulation is built for.
  • Excess nicotine per puff: Salt nicotine is already efficient at nicotine delivery. At high wattage, a 50mg salt liquid can deliver more nicotine in a single puff than most users can tolerate, causing nausea, dizziness, or nicotine overdose symptoms.
  • Device damage: Sub-ohm coils running thin liquid at high wattage overheat quickly, which can damage the coil housing and, in poorly designed devices, stress the battery.
  • Burnt coils: When wicking cannot keep up with vaporization, the coil fires dry and burns the wick material, producing a burnt taste and ruining the coil within a few puffs.

Correct specifications for these Black Note formulations

  • Coil resistance: 0.8 ohms or higher (MTL coils).
  • Wattage: Under 18 watts, ideally 10 to 15 watts for the smoothest experience.
  • Airflow: Restricted to mimic a cigarette draw rather than wide open.
  • Device type: Pod systems, low-wattage pens, and MTL tanks.

Recommended Black Note devices for 50VG/50PG and salt nicotine

  • Aspire Vilter Pro
  • Aspire Nexi Pro
  • Aspire Favostix 2 Kit
  • Geekvape Sonder Q
  • Black Note Pod System

What to use instead if you prefer sub-ohm vaping

  • Black Note 70VG/30PG freebase: Designed for sub-ohm tanks, 3mg or 6mg nicotine, coil resistance below 0.8 ohms.
  • V by Black Note 60VG/40PG: Works in medium-power devices, sits between MTL and DTL.

We highly recommend the Virginia Tobacco in 12mg or 18mg traditional nicotine, or 30mg or 50mg in SALT nicotine here .

The main difference between Black Note salts and freebase nicotine is the form in which the nicotine is present in the e-liquid. Salts use nicotine in its natural salt form, which results in a smoother throat hit and faster nicotine absorption. Freebase nicotine, on the other hand, is the pure form of nicotine and provides a stronger throat hit. The choice between salts and freebase nicotine depends on individual preferences for throat hit and nicotine absorption speed.

Depending on your budget or style, we recommend the following excellent devices:

  1. Aspire Vilter Pro
  2. Aspire Nexi Pro Device
  3. Aspire Favostix 2 Kit
  4. Geekvape Sonder Q

The above MTL devices would work seamlessly with this blend. An MTL device, or Mouth-to-Lung device, is a type of vaping device designed to mimic the sensation of smoking a traditional cigarette. With an MTL device, the vapor is drawn into the mouth first and then inhaled into the lungs.

This style of vaping involves using higher resistance coils (above 1 ohm) and lower power settings, resulting in a tighter draw and a more restricted airflow. MTL devices are commonly preferred by those transitioning from smoking to vaping, as they provide a similar experience and throat hit.

If you’re using your own device, remember to use higher resistance coils (1 ohm or above) and keep the wattage below 18 watts for the optimal vaping experience.

It is important to watch the Unboxing User Guide Video & How-to-use Tutorial listed next to the product page on our website to avoid device issues and enhance your vaping experience.

For optimal performance and longevity of your devices, we also suggest the following tips:

  1. Never charge the battery overnight.
  2. Check the storage conditions of your liquids. Exposure to excessive heat or extreme temperatures can impact performance and lifespan.
  3. When refilling the cartridges, avoid overfilling to prevent leaking and decreased performance. Please follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and refer to the owner’s manual for proper filing procedures.
  4. Wait five minutes after filling the pod before you take the first puff.

Black Note carries four different PG/VG ratios across its product lines, each engineered for a different device category and vaping style. The right ratio for you depends on the device you use and the experience you want.

The four Black Note PG/VG ratios

Ratio Product line Best device type Vaping style
50VG/50PG Black Note original tobacco line, salt nicotine Pod systems, low-wattage MTL devices Mouth-to-lung
70VG/30PG Black Note 70VG/30PG tobacco line Sub-ohm tanks, high-wattage mods Direct-to-lung
60VG/40PG V by Black Note Medium-power devices, mid-range pods and tanks Restricted DTL or loose MTL
65VG/35PG Soulsome, White Note flavored lines Medium to high-power devices Restricted DTL

What each ratio is designed to do

  • 50VG/50PG wicks easily in small pod coils, produces a stronger throat hit, and delivers the most cigarette-like experience. This is the flagship ratio for the original Black Note tobacco line and for all salt nicotine products.
  • 70VG/30PG produces thicker vapor, a smoother throat hit, and larger clouds. It is thicker than 50/50 and only wicks properly in sub-ohm tanks and larger coil devices.
  • 60VG/40PG (V by Black Note) sits in the middle. It works across a wider range of devices than either extreme and is a good choice when your device is not strictly MTL or DTL.
  • 65VG/35PG (Soulsome, White Note) is built for fuller flavor delivery on medium to high-power devices while remaining coil-friendly thanks to Black Note’s no-sweetener formulation.

How to match a ratio to your device

  • Pod system with coils 0.8 ohms or higher: 50VG/50PG or salt nicotine.
  • Medium-power pod or small tank with coils 0.5 to 0.8 ohms: 60VG/40PG or 65VG/35PG.
  • Sub-ohm tank with coils below 0.5 ohms: 70VG/30PG.

Why Black Note carries multiple ratios

Naturally extracted tobacco e-liquid behaves differently at different VG levels. Black Note formulates each ratio independently rather than diluting a single base, which keeps flavor delivery consistent whether you are vaping on a small pod or a sub-ohm tank.

A cigarette-like experience means vaping that closely mimics the feel, throat hit, vapor density, and nicotine delivery of a traditional cigarette. Black Note 50VG/50PG e-liquids combined with a properly configured MTL pod system are engineered specifically for this experience.

What makes vaping feel like smoking a cigarette

  • Mouth-to-lung (MTL) inhale: Vapor pulled into the mouth first, then into the lungs, in the same two-step motion a smoker uses.
  • Restricted draw: Airflow tight enough to feel like pulling through a straw, not wide open.
  • Defined throat hit: A noticeable but not harsh sensation at the back of the throat when inhaling.
  • Moderate vapor: Vapor volume similar to a cigarette, not the large clouds produced by sub-ohm devices.
  • Nicotine satisfaction: Enough nicotine per puff to reduce cravings, delivered in a familiar rhythm.

Device settings that deliver a cigarette-like experience

  • Coil resistance: 0.8 ohms or higher (MTL coil).
  • Wattage: Under 18 watts, ideally 10 to 14 watts.
  • Airflow: Restricted, not open.
  • Device type: Pod system or low-wattage pen, not a sub-ohm tank.

E-liquid choices for a cigarette-like experience

Cigarette preference Black Note recommendation Why
American-style cigarettes (Marlboro, Camel) American Blend or Virginia Tobacco Closest flavor match to flue-cured blended cigarette tobacco
Light cigarettes Virginia Tobacco at lower nicotine Mellow, mildly sweet profile matches lighter smokes
Menthol cigarettes Menthol Tobacco or Special Blend Menthol Crisp menthol with authentic tobacco base
Full-flavor cigarettes Virginia Tobacco 18mg or salt nicotine Stronger throat hit, fuller body
Pipe tobacco Cavendish or Latakia Aromatic, deeper tobacco character
Cigars Cigar Blend or Kentucky Tobacco Robust, intense tobacco profile

What prevents a cigarette-like experience

  • Using a sub-ohm device with wide-open airflow.
  • Running Black Note 70VG/30PG in a small pod (too thin for proper wicking at low wattage).
  • Nicotine strength too low for your former smoking intensity (feels unsatisfying, leads to overuse).
  • Taking long, deep DTL-style inhales instead of the two-step MTL draw.

Why Black Note naturally extracted tobacco is different from flavored e-liquids

Most “tobacco-flavored” e-liquids use artificial flavor concentrates designed to mimic tobacco. Black Note extracts the actual aromatic compounds from real tobacco leaves, so the taste carries the complexity of the leaf itself rather than a candy-like approximation. For former smokers, this closer flavor match is often the difference between a satisfying switch and going back to cigarettes.

No. Our product does not contain diacetyl. We have further tested our products for the following compounds: ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, 2,3-Pentanedione, Acetaldehyde, Acetoin, Acetone, and Acrolein. Since Black Note does not use artificial flavors or sweeteners and only relies on naturally extracted tobacco vapor liquid, these harmful chemicals don’t exist in our products. These compounds are the byproduct of artificial flavors and sweeteners.

Are you Frequently changing coils not to compromise the flavor profile and juice taste and avoid the busing sensation? Are you Spending big bucks on vape coil replacements every week? Are your coils burning out in 2-3 days?

Coil gunk is residue that builds up on the heating coil over time as e-liquid vaporizes and recondenses. Left unchecked, it produces a burnt taste, dulls flavor, and eventually ruins the coil. This section explains what causes it and which Black Note products are designed to minimize it.

How coil gunk forms

  • E-liquid heats, turns into vapor, and some portion recondenses back onto the coil and wick.
  • Over hundreds of firings, this recondensed residue hardens into a dark crust on the coil wire.
  • The crust insulates the coil, so it heats unevenly and produces that characteristic burnt or “Burt” taste.
  • Once the wick under the coil becomes saturated with residue, the only fix is replacing the coil or pod.

Ingredients that accelerate coil gunk

  • Artificial sweeteners (sucralose is the worst offender): Caramelizes on the coil within days.
  • Heavy artificial flavorings: Particularly dessert, candy, and fruit concentrates that use oil-based compounds.
  • High-VG e-liquids with added sweeteners: VG is sticky on its own; adding sweetener compounds the problem.

Why some Black Note tobacco e-liquids can gunk coils faster than expected

Naturally extracted tobacco (N.E.T.) e-liquids contain natural oils, sugars, and compounds that come from the tobacco leaf itself. These are not artificial additives, but they still leave residue on coils in small pod systems. This is the trade-off for authentic tobacco flavor: what you gain in realism, you sometimes give up in coil longevity.

Black Note coil-friendly options

Product What it is Flavor profile Best for
Special Blend Distillate-based tobacco e-liquid, light and smooth Similar to American Blend, lighter side Vapers who want coil-friendly + lighter tobacco
Special Blend 3.0 Distillate-based with additional filtration, fuller flavor Richer, full-flavor cigarette style Vapers who want coil-friendly + bold tobacco
Special Blend Menthol Coil-friendly menthol version Crisp menthol tobacco Menthol smokers who want longer coil life

How the Special Blend line extends coil life

  • No added sweeteners of any kind.
  • Additional distillation and filtration process that removes waxes, heavy oils, and residual sugars from the tobacco extract.
  • Developed specifically for small pod coils where standard N.E.T. e-liquids struggle.
  • Typical coil life: one to two weeks of normal use, compared to two to three days for many sweetened e-liquids.

Device habits that extend coil life regardless of e-liquid

  • Use a coil rated 0.8 ohms or higher for 50VG/50PG and salt nicotine.
  • Keep wattage at the low end of the coil’s recommended range.
  • Prime new coils with 5 to 10 drops of e-liquid and let the pod sit for five minutes before first use.
  • Take shorter, gentler puffs rather than long, hard draws.
  • Avoid chain vaping, which overheats the coil and accelerates residue buildup.

The right nicotine strength depends on how much you currently smoke or used to smoke, the type of Black Note e-liquid you’re using, and the device you vape on. This section covers the two nicotine categories Black Note offers, how to pick a starting strength, and how to adjust up or down.

Black Note nicotine strengths available

  • Freebase nicotine (50VG/50PG and 70VG/30PG lines): 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg.
  • Salt nicotine (50VG/50PG line): 20mg, 30mg, 50mg.

Freebase vs salt nicotine

Feature Freebase nicotine Salt nicotine
Throat hit Sharper, more defined Smoother, gentler
Absorption speed Moderate Fast, similar to cigarettes
Best for MTL or DTL devices at lower strengths MTL pod systems at higher strengths
Available strengths 0 to 18mg 20 to 50mg
Best for former smokers Light to moderate Moderate to heavy

Matching Black Note nicotine strength to former cigarette use

Former smoking level Freebase recommendation Salt recommendation
Non-smoker, curious about vaping 0mg or 3mg Not recommended
Light smoker (less than half pack per day) 3mg or 6mg 20mg
Moderate smoker (half to one pack per day) 6mg or 12mg 20mg or 30mg
Heavy smoker (one to two packs per day) 12mg or 18mg 30mg
Very heavy smoker (more than two packs per day) 18mg 50mg

How to fine-tune your strength

  • Feels unsatisfying, cravings return quickly: Step up one level (e.g., 6mg to 12mg, or 20mg salt to 30mg salt).
  • Feels too harsh, causes coughing or dizziness: Step down one level.
  • Sweet spot: A nicotine level is right when you feel satisfied after a short vaping session and do not reach for cigarettes in between.

How device type affects nicotine strength choice

  • Small pod system (MTL, under 18 watts): Higher strengths (12mg to 18mg freebase, or any salt strength) work well because the device delivers small amounts of vapor per puff.
  • Sub-ohm tank (DTL, 40+ watts): Lower strengths only (3mg or 6mg freebase). Large vapor volume delivers a lot of nicotine per puff; high strengths become overwhelming.
  • Medium-power device (60VG/40PG V by Black Note, 65VG/35PG Soulsome): Mid-range strengths (6mg to 12mg freebase).

A note on starting low vs high

For new vapers, starting too low is more comfortable than starting too high. It is easy to step up if a strength feels weak, but uncomfortable to step down after a nicotine overdose experience. When in doubt, pick the lower option in your tier.

50mg salt nicotine is the highest concentration Black Note offers and is designed for a narrow audience: heavy former smokers who consumed more than two packs per day. For most vapers, 50mg is simply too strong, and the harshness is usually a sign of mismatched nicotine level, technique, or device settings rather than a product defect.

Symptoms of nicotine level that is too high

  • Coughing on the first puff
  • Burning or stinging in the throat
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Nausea within 10 to 20 minutes of vaping
  • Racing heart or jittery feeling
  • Headache

Why 50mg feels harsh for most vapers

  • Salt nicotine is absorbed by the bloodstream faster than freebase nicotine, so the perceived “hit” comes on stronger.
  • At 50mg per milliliter, even short puffs deliver a significant nicotine dose.
  • Vapers used to freebase (or to light cigarettes) have not built tolerance for this concentration.
  • Higher wattage amplifies the effect by vaporizing more liquid per puff.

Who 50mg is actually designed for

  • Former heavy smokers (two-plus packs per day) who are still transitioning away from cigarettes.
  • Current smokers using vaping as a replacement and needing a closer match to cigarette nicotine delivery.
  • Vapers who have worked up to 50mg over time and developed tolerance.

How to fix harshness

  1. Step down to a lower strength. 20mg or 30mg salt nicotine delivers most of the satisfaction without the burn.
  2. Use the correct device. MTL pod systems with coils rated 1.0 ohm or higher and wattage between 10 and 15 watts are built for salt nicotine.
  3. Adjust technique. Take slower, shallower puffs rather than long hard draws. Salt nicotine does not require deep inhalation to feel satisfying.
  4. Close the airflow. A tighter draw slows vapor delivery and softens the hit.
  5. Wait between puffs. Give the coil 15 to 30 seconds to fully rewick.

Black Note salt nicotine strength guide

Strength Best for
20mg Light former smokers (half pack per day or less), experienced vapers stepping down
30mg Moderate former smokers (pack per day), most new salt nicotine users
50mg Heavy former smokers (two-plus packs per day), vapers with built tolerance

When it comes to vaping, the vape juice you use will determine how much you enjoy vaping. Also, while purchasing Black Note, you might have noticed two PG/VG ratios and several nicotine levels. Choosing the correct PG/VG ratio depends on the vaping device that you use and your personal preferences.

The Black Note 70vg/30pg Vape Juice is a type of e-liquid that contains two bases, including 70% Vegetable Glycerin and 30% Propylene Glycol. Vegetable Glycerin is a thick, natural liquid with a sweet flavor. Propylene Glycol is a thin, non-toxic artificial fluid with no natural flavor, so it’s better at carrying tobacco flavors added to e-juice and has a longer shelf life since it’s non-natural.

Both VG and PG bases are safe and widely used to carry flavors in various consumable products. One major health issue is that PG can cause throat irritation and lead to allergies such as stomach upset, rashes, or difficulty breathing. Opting for an e-liquid with a higher VG base like 70vg/30pg Vape Juice may be the best option.

  • Smoothness: 70vg/30pg Vape Juice tends to offer a much smoother feeling on the throat, with a more considerable, ‘thicker’ mouthfeel due to its high VG base. This is beneficial because the vaper experiences a slight throat hit and doesn’t feel overpowered.
  • Cloud Chasing: If you want to exhale the most considerable vapor clouds, 70vg/30pg is your vape juice. VG is the main ingredient responsible for vapor production. This is also the best vape juice for a competitive vaper, resulting in dense clouds.
  • Lower levels of nicotine: 70vg/30pg e-liquids have a much lower nicotine content because the amount of vapor produced is substantial. Since the vaper will be inhaling larger quantities of vapor, less nicotine is required to achieve satisfaction.

Overall the 70vg/30pg Vape Juice is for the casual or lifestyle vaper looking for a good level of tasty flavor, a nice smooth throat hit, and big clouds while exhaling. It is a little of everything, and it’s the best ratio where vapers feel they are getting the best of both worlds. So go ahead and shop for a high-quality Black Note 70/30 mix.

The choice between 50VG/50PG and 70VG/30PG depends on your device, your vaping style, and what you want out of the experience. Each ratio is engineered for a different class of hardware, and running the wrong ratio in the wrong device is the most common cause of dry hits, harshness, and premature coil failure.

Side-by-side comparison

Feature 50VG/50PG 70VG/30PG
Vaping style Mouth-to-lung (MTL) Direct-to-lung (DTL)
Device type Pod systems, low-wattage devices Sub-ohm tanks, high-wattage mods

Vapor clouds Small to medium Large, dense
Best nicotine strengths 12mg and 18mg freebase 3mg and 6mg freebase
Best for Former cigarette smokers Experienced vapers who prefer clouds

When to choose 50VG/50PG

  • You are switching from cigarettes and want a tighter, cigarette-like draw.
  • You vape on a pod system or small MTL device.
  • You prefer a stronger throat hit and sharper flavor definition.
  • You want longer-lasting bottles, since MTL devices consume less e-liquid per puff.
  • You use 12mg or 18mg freebase nicotine.

When to choose 70VG/30PG

  • You vape on a sub-ohm tank or high-wattage mod.
  • You prefer a direct-to-lung inhale with larger vapor clouds.
  • You want a smoother, less sharp throat hit.
  • You use lower nicotine strengths (3mg or 6mg), since high vapor volume delivers more nicotine per puff.

What happens if you mismatch the ratio

  • Running 70VG/30PG in a small pod system causes dry hits and premature coil failure because the thicker liquid cannot wick fast enough through a tight coil.
  • Running 50VG/50PG in a sub-ohm tank causes leaking, overheating, and an uncomfortable nicotine hit because the thinner liquid floods the coil and delivers too much nicotine at high wattage.

Still unsure?

Black Note 50VG/50PG is the safer starting point for first-time vapers and anyone switching from cigarettes. It works across the widest range of devices and delivers the most cigarette-like experience. Customers who are already comfortable on a sub-ohm device and want bigger clouds should step up to 70VG/30PG.

We can no longer carry glass bottles per Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines for e-liquid containers “restricted flow requirement” states that an opened bottle, when inverted and squeezed continuously for five seconds by a five-year-old child, must dispense no more than two milliliters of e-liquid. No glass bottle could pass such a test since the contents would flow freely when the opened bottle is tipped upside down. The rule can be found in section 1700.15 of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.

We use a low-density polyethylene design. This bottle is constructed from raw materials and is BPA-free. Plus, being child-resistant and tamper-evident, without any worry about children accidentally ingesting it. In addition, the impact-resistant bottle is much softer, boasting a smoother squeeze, while using a pressure seal, leak-proof, tight-fitting dripper base, and the  Pinch a Drip and Squeeze a Flow system to improve dispensing and prevent drips.

A CAS Registry Number is a unique identification number assigned by the Chemical Abstracts Service, US, to every chemical or natural substance described in the open scientific literature.

The Black Note product collection is an honest lineup using natural tobacco and menthol flavors. Those have been and will continue to be the only vaping liquids we offer. Our unadulterated, straight tobacco flavor comes from different tobacco varieties. This means all our tobacco flavors have only one CAS number except for Menthol. Black Note’s Menthol blend starts with sun-cured Oriental tobacco extract, which is then overlaid with a cool menthol extract derived from genuine peppermint leaves. (Mentha arvensis extract with CAS no. 90063-97-1)

On May 19, 2019, we performed comprehensive testing and HPHCs analysis to measure the levels of HPHCs in our Virginia Tobacco e-liquid formulations containing 0 and 18 mg/mL nicotine. Compared to smoke-chemistry research of cigarettes and recently authorized products such as the IQOS, the Virginia Tobacco e-liquid product demonstrates substantially lower potential exposures to all measured HPHCs.

Most HPHCs and other constituents were below the quantitation limit when used as intended. Furthermore, based on publicly available information, all detected HPHCs and constituents were lower than other ENDS products on the market.

Compared to smoke-chemistry analysis of cigarettes and recently authorized products such as the IQOS, the Black Note Tobacco e-liquid product demonstrates substantially lower potential exposures to all but two of the measured HPHCs (Menthol and nicotine). In addition, the vast majority of the other HPHCs and other constituents, when used as intended, were BELOW the quantitation limit, and those which were detected were numerous HPHCs and other constituents when used as intended, on par with [or lower than] other ENDS products on the market, based on publicly available information.

Nicotine in e-liquid is measured as milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml), with bottles commonly coming in levels of 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 12mg, 18mg, 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. This tells you the amount of liquid nicotine there is in a bottle in relation to the total amount of e-liquid in the bottle.

This means that a bigger bottle of e-liquid will contain more nicotine overall than a smaller bottle with the same nicotine strength. So if you get a 15 ml bottle and a 30 ml bottle of the same strength, the 30 ml bottle will contain twice as much nicotine as the 15 ml bottle.

The nicotine is mixed throughout the bottle, so whenever you fill-up the same tank or clearomizer with an e-liquid of a specific strength, you get the same amount of nicotine. In other words, in a bottle of 12mg/ml e-liquid, every ml of e-liquid contains 12 milligrams of nicotine, mixed evenly throughout, so you get a consistent hit of nicotine with every puff.

The basic rules of e-liquid storage are that it should be kept away from light, in a cool location, and somewhere that children or pets won’t get access to it. That is why we created cartons to give our liquid more protection.

If it’s exposed to light and air, the nicotine will oxidize and your e-liquid will get darker. This doesn’t change its core properties, but it can be easily avoided with proper storage. If you store your e-liquid in the worst way possible (near a window with the cap off) you could lose a notable amount of nicotine, but in most cases the difference is negligible.

The bigger concern for spoilage is the flavors, which will degrade more quickly in light and heat. None of this is going to do you any harm, but the flavor will be ruined.

Ideally, e-liquid should be stored in an air-tight container, but as soon as you’ve had a bit of your e-liquid this is hard to achieve. Glass is better than plastic for long-term storage for this reason, though, because plastic is slightly permeable by air.

Propylene glycol (PG) is one of the main ingredients in e-liquid, and although most vapers can inhale it without a problem, it can cause an allergic reaction for a small percentage. You can rectify the issue by switching to vegetable glycerin (VG) based e-liquid.

For those sensitive to PG, the most common consequence is excessive irritation and a sore, dry throat when inhaling PG-based liquids, but in some cases, more typical allergic reactions can occur. These include sinus problems, headaches and nausea, and in some cases numbness of the face and itchy hives.

Between 1.5 and 3.5 percent of people have a contact allergy to PG (although there is some uncertainty about the precise number). In these cases, small bumps may be present around your mouth, accompanied by a burning or stinging sensation in the affected areas.

Another thing to consider, however, is that there may be some crossover between potential signs of allergies and symptoms from stopping smoking (such as “quit zits”), so the best way to be sure is to stop vaping or use a different e-liquid (see below) for a while to see if the symptoms clear up. If they do, then it’s likely that PG is causing your symptoms.

Finally, it’s worth noting that even vapers who’ve used PG-based liquids before without issues can develop a sensitivity later down the line – just because you’ve been OK before doesn’t mean you won’t develop an allergy or sensitivity.

The simplest solution for vapers allergic to PG is to switch to vegetable glycerin (VG) based e-liquids, or ones with much lower amounts of PG. Although most mixers (including Black Note) use both PG and VG in their e-liquid, you can find VG-only liquids, and some mixers allow you to choose your ratio of the two. If you don’t switch to VG-only liquids, try to keep the PG content as low as possible – 70 percent VG to 30 percent PG may be enough to minimize your symptoms, but the less PG the better.

It’s possible to be allergic to VG too, but this is much less common and is unlikely to be an issue.

Black Note tobacco e-liquids contain only five ingredients, plus a sixth ingredient in the menthol line. Every ingredient is chosen for purity and inhalation safety, and the full list is below with sourcing and certification details.

The five core ingredients

Ingredient Source and certification Purpose
Naturally extracted tobacco Organic tobacco leaves, cold macerated over 6 to 8 weeks Flavor
Freebase or salt nicotine 100% naturally derived from tobacco leaves, certified by Alchem International (Switzerland), exceeds EP/USP standards Nicotine delivery

Menthol line: sixth ingredient

  • Peppermint Extract (Mentha arvensis): Naturally extracted from organic peppermint leaves. Specifically sourced from Mentha arvensis because it does not contain pulegone, a compound flagged by the FDA as a potential carcinogen that appears in some mint varieties.

What Black Note does NOT use

  • No artificial flavors
  • No artificial sweeteners (no sucralose, no ethyl maltol)
  • No synthetic nicotine
  • No added colors
  • No alcohol
  • No diacetyl
  • No acetyl propionyl
  • No acetoin
  • No ethylene glycol
  • No diethylene glycol
  • No acrolein
  • No pulegone (menthol line uses Mentha arvensis specifically to avoid it)

How Black Note verifies ingredient purity

  • Independent laboratory testing on every production batch
  • HPHCs (Harmful and Potentially Harmful Constituents) analysis performed on finished e-liquid
  • Published lab reports available on request for customers and regulators
  • All ingredients sourced from suppliers with pharmaceutical or food-grade certifications

Extraction method

Black Note uses a cold maceration process rather than chemical or solvent extraction. Tobacco leaves steep in the PG/VG base for 6 to 8 weeks at cool temperatures. This preserves the natural flavor compounds and avoids the harsh byproducts of heat-based or alcohol-based extraction methods.

Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, known as PG and VG, are the two primary ingredients in e-liquid and the resulting vapor.

Propylene Glycol (PG)

PG has the chemical name 1,2-propanediol, and is a generally recognized as safe chemical that is used in a wide range of consumer products, including pharmaceuticals, sunscreen, lotions, shampoos, food flavorings, pet foods, cosmetic creams, theatrical smoke machines and many more products. PG is also used in antifreeze, but it’s used to make the antifreeze drastically less toxic for humans and pets. In e-liquid, food grade PG is used to carry the flavor, and the fact that it’s slightly irritating to the throat when inhaled means that it contributes to the “throat hit” of the vapor.

Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

VG has the chemical name 1,2,3-propanetriol, and like PG, is a generally recognized as safe chemical used in a multitude of consumer products, including pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics and in tobacco. As with PG, it may be irritating when inhaled. However, in e-liquid VG produces a much smoother throat-hit, is thicker than PG and imparts more sweetness to the taste.

Safety of PG and VG for Inhalation

There is limited evidence on the safety of PG and VG for inhalation. Still, studies on those exposed to theatrical fog machines (which also use other chemicals and lower-grade PG) generally show very little evidence of harm, with irritation being the only notable effect. Animal studies on PG and VG have also shown no evidence of harm other than mild irritation. However, more research is needed to make any definitive statements about the risks for vapers.

PG/VG Ratios in E-Liquid

The most important thing about PG and VG for vapers is their relative quantities used in a given e-liquid. Generally speaking, higher PG levels improve the flavor (because it doesn’t drown it out as much as VG), produce a stronger throat hit and make the liquid thinner (and therefore more efficient at wicking). On the other hand, VG-based liquids produce thicker vapor, but are more viscous, so they won’t wick as effectively.

At Black Note, we use a 50/50 mix of PG and VG, which provides a nice balance between throat hit, flavor, and vapor production.

Black Note’s Original line and Nic Salts collection come in a 50vg/50pg ratio. Both collections are usually the first option for first-time vapors, but plenty of experts use them, too, since the ratio of PG to VG is balanced. Apart from the flavor, the ratio of PG to VG is one of the characteristics that affect your vaping experience. The 50/50 ratio means that your e-liquid is half Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and half Propylene Glycol (PG). PG and VG are odorless liquids usually combined with nicotine and the desired flavor.

Even though they are in the chemical alcohol category, the liquids are not intoxicating. 50vg/50pg E-Juice allows you to enjoy the flavors of both liquids in equal measures.

Many people like this type of e-juice because it is the perfect compromise between PG and VG. It gives you a chance to enjoy the benefits of both liquids. In addition, the VG gives off a sweet flavor.

It fills your mouth and facilitates enough vapor production. It also helps with smoothness and sweetness.

Low Viscosity

On the other hand, VG thickens your liquid, and PG helps define the flavor. Since both liquids are essential, 50/50 e-liquid gives you a balance. Another advantage is that the 50vg/50pg blends are very thin. The low viscosity makes it appropriate for many vaping devices. 50/50 e-liquids work on just about any vaping device in the market.

Longer Coil Life

A 50/50 juice is an excellent choice if you want to significantly improve the life of your coils without affecting the quality of your vaping experience. Most manufacturers recommend a 50vg/50pg e-Juice because a higher PG ratio may gunk your coils.

Many foods (fruits and vegetables) contain natural chemicals that are toxic to humans. However, they are usually present in tiny amounts, far below the harmful dose. For example, Salicaceae is a family of plants that belong to the tomato, potato, tobacco, eggplant, chili peppers, bell peppers, and many others. All plants have protective devices, either mechanical like thorns or barks, and various types of vegetable poisons, mainly in the form of alkaloids. This is to protect themselves from all phytophagous (insects and animals that feed on plants). Many of the above also contain nicotine and similar alkaloids.

Our cold NATURAL & Proprietary extraction system allows us to extract mainly flavored substances out of the tobacco, only very, very indefinitely small amounts of Nicotine/alkaloids are collected by our process, so small is the amount that one does not have to mention them by LAW in food analysis. Therefore, the constituents of our extraction are perfectly ok and in no way harmful.

In other words, the nicotine amount of traces found in our zero percent e liquids are similar to traces found in tomatoes and eggplants. You can send any of our vaping liquids at zero percent to a local lab in your area, and the result will be nicotine-free.

Sub-ohm vaping refers to using a vape coil with an electrical resistance below 1.0 ohm. Lower resistance allows more electrical current to pass through the coil at a given voltage, which heats more e-liquid per puff and produces larger vapor clouds, warmer vapor, and a more open draw.

How sub-ohm differs from standard vaping

  • Coil resistance: Below 1.0 ohm, typically in the 0.15 to 0.8 ohm range.
  • Wattage: Usually 40 watts and above, sometimes much higher on advanced mods.
  • Inhale style: Direct-to-lung (DTL), where vapor is pulled straight into the lungs in one motion, similar to a deep breath.
  • Vapor production: Noticeably larger, warmer clouds compared to mouth-to-lung (MTL) devices.
  • E-liquid consumption: A sub-ohm setup can use 5 to 15ml of e-liquid per day, roughly three to five times more than a pod system.
  • Battery drain: High-wattage firing drains batteries faster, which is why most sub-ohm devices use larger 18650 or 21700 batteries.

Which Black Note e-liquids work with sub-ohm devices

  • Black Note 70VG/30PG freebase line: Formulated specifically for sub-ohm tanks. Best paired with 3mg or 6mg nicotine because high vapor output delivers more nicotine per puff.
  • V by Black Note 60VG/40PG: Works in sub-ohm tanks at the lower end of the wattage range.
  • Not recommended for sub-ohm: Black Note 50VG/50PG and all salt nicotine products. These are built for low-wattage MTL pod systems. Using them in a sub-ohm device overheats the liquid and delivers too much nicotine per puff.

Who sub-ohm vaping is best suited for

Sub-ohm vaping is generally preferred by experienced vapers who want bigger clouds, a warmer draw, and a more relaxed inhale. It is not recommended for smokers switching from cigarettes, since the warm airflow and large vapor volume feel very different from a cigarette draw. Former smokers usually transition more comfortably on an MTL pod system with a 50VG/50PG or salt nicotine formulation.

Typically, those who vape with a sub-ohm device prefer juice with higher vegetable glycerin (VG) to propylene glycol (PG) ratio because it produces more vapor and has less of a throat hit, enabling a longer DTL inhale.

Those using a sub-ohm device will prefer a lower strength e-liquid, typically no higher than 6mg/ml as more nicotine is delivered through the larger intake of vapor, and higher strengths will be too harsh with a sub-ohm coil.

Taste and Smell are generally linked, but not at Black Note. Black Note liquids have no smell. That is because we extract the aromatic constituent of tobacco using a 100% natural cold extraction process. As a result, our liquids do not contain any artificial flavors that typically produce a sharp smell at room temperature. It also means with Black Note. Everything remains in the taste!

So don’t think there’s something wrong with your nose if you don’t smell anything with Black Note. Just know there’s something right with your e-liquid.

Black Note tobacco e-liquids are not expected to contain gluten based on the ingredients used, but the product has not been independently certified as gluten-free by a laboratory. This answer explains the reasoning and what customers with celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity should consider.

Why Black Note e-liquids are not expected to contain gluten

Black Note tobacco e-liquids contain only five ingredients, and none of them are derived from gluten-containing grains (wheat, barley, rye):

  • Naturally extracted tobacco: Extracted from organic tobacco leaves via cold maceration. Tobacco is not a gluten-containing plant.
  • Freebase or salt nicotine: Sourced from tobacco leaves, certified by Alchem International in Switzerland.
  • Propylene glycol (PG): Pharmaceutical grade, synthetically produced, not derived from grains.
  • Vegetable glycerin (VG): USP Kosher certified, typically derived from palm, soy, or coconut oil. Not derived from wheat.
  • Filtered water: Inherently gluten-free.

Why Black Note cannot claim “certified gluten-free”

  • A certified gluten-free label requires independent laboratory testing to confirm gluten content below 20 parts per million.
  • Black Note has not yet commissioned this testing.
  • Without the lab result, the company cannot make a legally defensible “100% gluten-free” claim on packaging or marketing.
  • Trace cross-contamination from shared manufacturing equipment elsewhere in the supply chain is unlikely but cannot be ruled out without testing.

Guidance for customers with gluten sensitivity

  • Mild gluten sensitivity: Black Note tobacco e-liquids are unlikely to cause issues based on the ingredient list.
  • Severe sensitivity or celiac disease: Consult a physician before use. Consider waiting until Black Note publishes a certified gluten content analysis.
  • Menthol line: Contains the same five ingredients plus peppermint extract (Mentha arvensis), which is also not a gluten-containing plant.
  • Third-party brands carried on BlackNote.com: Gluten status varies by brand. Check with the manufacturer directly for e-liquids made by Juice Head, Sadboy, Cloud Nurdz, and other non-Black Note brands.

E-juice shelf life is generally cited as having a shelf life of one to one and a half years, but there is a fair amount of uncertainty on this topic. If you store your e-liquid properly, it can have a shelf life of up to two years.

The estimate for the e-juice expiration date is primarily based on the established shelf lives of PG and VG, with nicotine being capable of being stored indefinitely in proper conditions. The uncertainty comes primarily from the flavorings, which can vary from liquid to liquid. For Black Note, all of our flavors are naturally-extracted from tobacco (and peppermint, for Solo), and we don’t add any flavorings or colorings, but overall the same considerations apply to any e-liquid.

While ejuice can freeze, it has a lower freezing point than water, so frozen puddles at your feet don’t necessarily mean frozen e-liquid. Water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius, while the two main components of e-liquid, Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin, freeze at -12 degrees and -17 degrees, respectively.

Due to the PG content in most eJuices, eJuice will not freeze. It will, however, get thicker, and the ingredients may separate until the eJuice is warmed-up. eJuices containing 100%VG may freeze if left outside for a while, but this does not harm the eJuice. Many people have frozen their eJuice to give it a longer shelf life without any adverse effects (although we do not recommend or endorse this practice as we believe that fresh is best for eJuice). Cold is better for eJuice than heat, so if your eJuice or Vape Juice has been sitting outside in freezing weather, all you need to do is let it warm up for approximately 24 hours before you vape it so that it will flow adequately into your wick.

The original nic salt packaging bottle is a 60ml size due to legal constraints but 30ml in volume intentionally. Please watch the following video explaining the issue regarding the fill line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-ql3Jj9hVc. We have overcome the legal labeling constraints and, as a result, updated the package look and size.

The new 30ml salt nicotine package doesn’t show the word “salt” in the front of it intentionally due to FDA rules, but rest assured, it is 100% salt nicotine. On a side note, any nicotine amount above 24mg is automatically a salt nicotine product.

Here is how To Open E-Liquid Bottle properly:

  • Step 1: Make sure your hands and the bottle are dry.
  • Step 2: Check the edge of the bottle cap for any shrink wrap or plastic bags. If there are any, break them off.
  • Step 3: Hold the bottle in one hand and firmly press down on the lid with the other hand.
  • Step 4: While still pushing down, twist the lid counter-clockwise.
  • Step 5: Continue unscrewing until the cap is free.

More Tips and Life Hacks

  1. Always apply downward pressure. This connects the outer and inner caps, allowing you to unscrew them simultaneously. You may need to use more or less pressure depending on the nature and size of the cap. Try increasing or reducing pressure if a bottle refuses to open.
  2. Use a towel for better friction in gripping and unscrewing.
  3. Squeezing the rigged sides of the lid helps.
  4. For stubborn lids, especially those glued in place by leaked e-liquid, try immersing them in hot water for a few minutes. This will expand the cap and melt the liquids.
  5. A plier can come in handy for small-sized bottles.
  6. Open a hole in your e-juice bottle and pour the vape juice into your e-cigarette as a last resort.

No. Black Note is not compatible with JUUL products or any other prefilled/disposable pod on the market.

Black Note e-liquids do not contain alcohol. The tobacco line is formulated with five ingredients only: natural tobacco extract, freebase or salt nicotine, USP Kosher certified vegetable glycerin, USP Kosher certified propylene glycol, and purified water. The menthol line adds a sixth ingredient, a peppermint extract from Mentha arvensis. Flavor is developed through a six to eight-week cold maceration process rather than ethanol-based extraction, so no alcohol is introduced during production.

Generally, we ship packages by air. Pods leak typically because of a change in air pressure. This pressure change pushes e-liquid out of the pod. Even though the airplane’s cabin is pressurized, the air pressure still differs from the air pressure on the ground.

Yes, you can mix our zero percent nicotine 60ml e-liquids with your salt nicotine e-liquids to enhance the flavor or to reduce the nicotine content. It’s safe to do so, and many customers find this method effective for achieving their desired taste profile and nicotine strength. Here are some guidelines to consider:

  • 70/30 (VG/PG) Mix: This mix will produce more vapor and provide a smoother throat hit.
  • 50/50 (VG/PG) Mix: This mix offers a balanced throat hit and flavor intensity.
Experiment with both ratios to see which one suits your preference best.

Important Note: You should not mix salt nicotine products with freebase nicotine products. This combination can lead to inconsistent nicotine delivery and an unpleasant vaping experience.

The safest way to get authentic Black Note tobacco e-liquids is to order directly from BlackNote.com. That ensures you’re getting the real Black Note lineup (Virginia Tobacco, American Blend, Menthol Tobacco, Burley Tobacco, Cavendish Tobacco, Kentucky Tobacco, Cigar Blend, Latakia Tobacco, Special Blend, and Special Blend Menthol) with proper storage and handling from the source.

Black Note e-liquids are built around naturally extracted tobacco, so the flavor comes from real tobacco leaf extraction rather than candy style tobacco flavoring. That’s why Virginia Tobacco and American Blend taste closer to a cigarette style profile, and why Latakia Tobacco and Cavendish Tobacco lean more pipe-like in character.

Start with Special Blend 3.0 if you want the most coil-friendly tobacco from Black Note with a full flavor cigarette-style profile. Special Blend 3.0 is built for people who want a richer, more satisfying tobacco taste while still keeping coil buildup under control.

If you want the same coil-friendly focus but prefer a lighter, smoother cigarette-style tobacco, go with Special Blend. Special Blend was created as a coil-friendly alternative that stays clean and easy to vape, especially in pod systems, but it’s intentionally more on the light side compared to Special Blend 3.0.

In short:
If you want coil-friendly and full flavor, choose Special Blend 3.0.
If you want coil-friendly and lighter flavor, choose Special Blend.

Coil gunk is residue that builds up as e-liquid vaporizes and re-condenses on the coil over time. With naturally extracted tobaccos, the extraction can include naturally occurring components that can be harder on coils in small pod setups. If coil life is the priority, Special Blend was introduced as a more coil friendly option.

No e-liquid is truly gunk-free in every device and every usage style, but you can absolutely improve coil life with the right pairing. Special Blend is the best pick when coil buildup is your biggest frustration, and Special Blend Menthol is the same idea for menthol lovers. Then the rest is device setup: higher resistance coils, lower wattage, and avoiding overheated pods makes a bigger difference than most people realize.

If you want a straight cigarette-style experience, start with Virginia Tobacco or American Blend. If you want a similar “classic cigarette” feel but care a lot about coil life, go with Special Blend. These are the most direct “cigarette lane” choices in the Black Note lineup.

Menthol Tobacco is the core menthol option if you want a crisp, clean menthol tobacco profile. If you want a more coil friendly version of that experience, choose Special Blend Menthol.

Burley Tobacco is the go-to for an earthy, nutty, slightly dry tobacco character. It’s a strong “real tobacco” profile and a solid option for people who want something more grounded and less sweet.

Cavendish Tobacco is built for a more aromatic, naturally sweet pipe-like direction, while Latakia Tobacco is the deeper, smoky, peppery pipe side of the lineup. If you want “pipe depth,” those are the two anchors.

Kentucky Tobacco is positioned as a robust, intense tobacco experience, and Cigar Blend is designed specifically to bring a cigar-style profile into a vape format. If you’re coming from cigars, these two are the most natural starting points.

Black Note offers a few different PG/VG ratios depending on the product line and the device you’re using.

Black Note 50VG/50PG is usually the best fit for mouth-to-lung pod systems and lower wattage setups because it wicks easily, feels more cigarette-like, and stays consistent in tighter coils.

Black Note 70VG/30PG is typically better for devices that handle thicker liquid and higher vapor output, giving a smoother inhale and more vapor in setups that are built for it.

Black Note Nicotine Salt e-liquids are made for low-power pod systems and tight-draw devices where you want efficient nicotine delivery without needing high wattage. The exact PG/VG ratio can vary by salt product, but the main point is that salts are designed for low-power performance and satisfaction per puff.

V by Black Note uses a 60VG/40PG blend, which sits in the middle. V by Black Note 60VG/40PG is designed to balance smoothness and vapor with strong flavor and good wicking in a wider range of devices.

Picking the right ratio matters because it directly affects wicking, throat hit, vapor production, and coil life. Using a thicker blend in a small pod can lead to dry hits, while using a thinner blend in a high-power setup can feel too sharp or leak more easily.

Black Note offers freebase nicotine strengths from 0mg up through higher freebase options, and nicotine salt strengths for people who want a stronger hit in a smaller volume. If you are switching from cigarettes, your best fit depends on how much you used to smoke per day and whether you prefer short, satisfying sessions (often salt) or longer sessions (often lower freebase).

The most cigarette-like experience with Black Note comes from pairing a 50VG/50PG or salt nicotine e-liquid with a properly configured mouth-to-lung (MTL) pod system. This section covers the exact settings, hardware recommendations, and technique.

Target device settings

  • Coil resistance: 0.8 ohms or higher (MTL coils).
  • Wattage: Under 18 watts. For a true cigarette-like draw, 10 to 14 watts works well.
  • Airflow: Restricted, not wide open. Most MTL pods have an airflow control ring; tighten it toward the closed position.
  • E-liquid: Black Note 50VG/50PG or salt nicotine. 70VG/30PG is too thin for these coils and wattages.

How MTL vaping differs from DTL

  • Inhale motion: Draw the vapor into your mouth first, hold briefly (about one to two seconds), then inhale into your lungs. This is the same two-step motion a cigarette smoker uses.
  • Draw tightness: MTL draws feel restricted, similar to pulling air through a straw. DTL draws feel wide open, like a deep breath.
  • Throat hit: MTL produces a sharper, more defined throat hit that mimics a cigarette.
  • Vapor volume: MTL produces smaller, cooler vapor compared to sub-ohm DTL setups.

Recommended Black Note e-liquid pairings for MTL

Former cigarette preference Suggested Black Note e-liquid Nicotine strength
Marlboro Red, Camel Full Flavor, Winston Red Virginia Tobacco or American Blend 12mg or 18mg freebase, or 30mg to 50mg salt

Marlboro Silver, Camel Ultra American Blend or Virginia Tobacco 3mg or 6mg freebase, or 20mg salt
Newport, Kool Menthol Menthol Tobacco or Special Blend Menthol Match strength to daily cigarette count
Cigar smokers Cigar Blend or Kentucky Tobacco 12mg or 18mg freebase

Recommended hardware

  • Aspire Vilter Pro
  • Aspire Nexi Pro Device
  • Aspire Favostix 2 Kit
  • Geekvape Sonder Q
  • Black Note Pod System

What not to do

  • Do not use Black Note tobacco e-liquids in a sub-ohm tank. The formulation is not designed for high-wattage, low-resistance setups.
  • Do not exceed 18 watts on a 50VG/50PG or salt nicotine e-liquid.
  • Do not chain vape. Take a puff, pause, and let the coil rewick before the next draw.

Devices

The Black Note CHANGE device is compatible with both ratios, 50vg/50pg and 70vg/30pg, with a coil resistance of 0.8 ohms.

Enhance your mouth-to-lung (MTL) Cigarette-Like Experience with Black Note e-liquids, the World’s Best and Most Trusted Tobacco Vaping Product, naturally extracted without artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or additives.

Black Note’s optimal device settings for the best mouth-to-lungs (MTL) Cigarette-Like Experience are as follow:

  • MTL Coil: Resistance of 0.8 ohms or higher.
  • MTL Wattage: Under 25 watts

We created Black Note Eliquids with smokers in mind; therefore, the best choice for those switching from smoking to vaping is through MTL vaping style. MTL is more like smoking a cigarette. You inhale the vape into your mouth and pause, then inhale it into your lungs. Black Note Tobacco e-liquids are not for use with sub-ohm devices.

A 70vg/30pg vape juice is a common choice for sub-ohm or temperature control vaping. These types of vape juice work best when the atomizer resistance is between 0.5 ohms and 0.8 ohms. 70/30 will work with lower resistance atomizers, but we feel ideal for the 0.5 to 0.8 area.

The nicotine content is so much lower in VG e-liquids because the amount of vapor produced is substantial. Because the vaper will be inhaling larger quantities of vapor, less nicotine is required to achieve satisfaction. The two most common nicotine levels for VG vape juice are either 3 mg or 6 mg.

Black Note 50 / 50 e-juice is ideal for atomizers with a resistance ranging from 0.8 ohms to 1.8 ohms. This type of vape juice is a popular choice for people who vape with pod mods. The vapor production is decent, as is the flavor. The nicotine levels for 50 / 50 liquids range from 0 mg to 18 mg. We recommend using the Black Note Pod System.
