VOOPOO ARGUS G4 Review: Three Resistances, One Pod

The ARGUS G4 has one idea that changes the buying decision: its included Multi-Ohm Cartridge can run at 1.0, 0.7, or 0.4 ohm without asking you to carry three separate pods. Add a 1650mAh battery, 35W ceiling, 0.85-inch display, and stepless airflow, and the G4 becomes a broad-range pod for adults who want both MTL and RDL options.
Our verdict on the VOOPOO ARGUS G4
The ARGUS G4 is one of the few pod systems whose main feature solves a real carrying problem. Insert the Multi-Ohm Cartridge one way for 0.7 ohm, turn it 180 degrees for 1.0 ohm, or use the device control to enter the 0.4-ohm mode. The screen confirms the selected resistance and power rather than making you read a small mark on the pod and guess.
That range is the reason to choose the G4. The 1.0-ohm side supports a tighter mouth-to-lung draw, 0.7 ohm fills the middle, and 0.4 ohm opens the device for restricted-direct-lung use up to 35W. Stepless airflow gives each setting room to change further.
This review covers the full ARGUS G4, not the ARGUS G4 Mini. The screened G4 adds adjustable power and the button-enabled 0.4-ohm mode. This is an editorial review based on VOOPOO documentation, the live Black Note product page, and compatibility data. We have not completed an independent hands-on endurance test, so we do not repeat usage-sensitive battery-life claims as guarantees.

How the Multi-Ohm Cartridge works
1.0 ohm: the tightest setting
Turn the cartridge so the 1.0-ohm marking is in the active orientation. This side has the lowest power ceiling and the tightest mouth-to-lung use case.

0.7 ohm: the middle setting
Flip the same cartridge 180 degrees to select 0.7 ohm. It gives more airflow and warmth while staying within the mouth-to-lung to restricted-direct-lung range.

0.4 ohm: the high-output setting
Use the G4’s button command to enable the 0.4-ohm mode. This opens the full 35W ceiling for a warmer restricted-direct-lung draw. The display makes the active resistance visible before you inhale.

The value here is not that one setting is universally better. It is that the device lets you change draw style without emptying a pod or carrying another cartridge.
ARGUS G4 versus G4 Mini
They share a 1650mAh battery and the Multi-Ohm Cartridge concept, but they are not the same device. The full G4 supports 0.4, 0.7, and 1.0 ohm, reaches 35W, uses a 0.85-inch display, and has a 5V/2A charging input. The G4 Mini supports 0.7 and 1.0 ohm, tops out at 30W, uses a simpler energy-bar display, and has a 5V/1.5A input. Choose the full G4 when you want the 0.4-ohm mode and screen-based control; choose the Mini when simpler operation matters more than the third resistance.

How to set up the ARGUS G4
- Charge the device by USB-C. VOOPOO specifies 5V/2A charging and rates a full charge at about 45 minutes under its test conditions.
- Open the top-fill seal on the 3.5mL US cartridge, add e-liquid, close the seal fully, and allow the wick to saturate according to the instructions.
- Insert the cartridge in the 1.0 or 0.7-ohm orientation. Confirm the resistance on the display before using it.
- Set the airflow for the draw you want. Start tighter for MTL and open it gradually for RDL.
- If you want the 0.4-ohm setting, use the button command shown in the manual and confirm 0.4 ohm on screen.
Match liquid formulation and nicotine strength to the selected resistance and power. The 1.0 and 0.7-ohm settings suit lower-power pod formulations; the 0.4-ohm setting calls for a lower-strength freebase liquid appropriate for higher output. Browse Black Note e-liquids by formulation rather than choosing on flavor alone.
Care and troubleshooting
- Wrong resistance on screen: remove the cartridge, check its orientation, clean the contacts, and reinstall it. Confirm the number before drawing.
- Weak or inconsistent draw: confirm the airflow slider has not moved and the pod is seated fully.
- Gurgling or seepage: close the fill seal, wipe the pod base and contacts, and avoid overfilling the cartridge.
- Dry taste: stop using the pod, confirm liquid reaches the wick, and replace a worn cartridge.
The G4 also accepts cartridges from the wider ARGUS Pod Family. Black Note carries the ARGUS Top Fill V2 replacement pods for users who prefer a fixed-resistance cartridge.
Pros, cons, and who should buy it
Pros
- Three resistance choices from one Multi-Ohm Cartridge
- 1650mAh built-in battery
- 5 to 35W adjustable output
- 0.85-inch display
- Stepless airflow
- 3.5mL US top-fill cartridge
- Compatibility with the wider ARGUS Pod Family
Cons
- More controls to learn than a basic draw-only pod
- Built-in battery is not user-swappable
- Material choice changes the device weight
- The tallest, widest use case still depends on one cartridge and its condition
Buy it if
You want one pod system that can move from tight MTL to RDL and you value a screen, adjustable power, and a large battery.
Skip it if
You want the fewest possible controls, a very small pod, or separate fixed-resistance pods for each draw style.
For the earlier fixed-resistance family member, read our VOOPOO ARGUS G review. Our guide to pod systems explains how this device class differs from larger mods.
