Vaporesso XROS 6 Review: Bigger Battery, Same XROS Draw

The XROS 6 makes sense when you want the XROS draw with more battery and better airflow control, not when you want something radically new. Vaporesso kept the slim flat-sided body, the COREX 3.0 mesh pods and the 30W ceiling, and changed the parts XROS owners kept asking about: the battery grew from 1500mAh to 1800mAh, the airflow slider became the VENTURI system with a wider range, and leak resistance moved to SSS 2.0.

The best reason to buy it is continuity. Every XROS Series pod from 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω fits, so pods from an XROS 3, 4 or 5 work here, and the two COREX 3.0 pods in the box (0.6Ω pre-installed, 0.8Ω spare) cover a warm restricted direct lung hit and a tight cigarette-style pull without buying anything else.

The caution is scope, not quality. This is a mouth to lung and restricted direct lung device. Anyone who wants high wattage or a wide adjustable range should look at a pod mod instead. This is an editorial review based on Vaporesso’s published specifications, the live Black Note product page, and pod compatibility data. We have not completed an independent hands-on endurance test, so we do not score battery duration or leak resistance from our own measurements.

1800mAh is the headline, and it is a real change

The XROS 5 carried 1500mAh. The XROS 6 adds 300mAh in the same footprint, which for a mouth to lung user on the 0.8Ω pod moves runtime from a full day to comfortably into the next. Actual figures depend on pod resistance and how often you draw, so we do not quote a number of days. Charging is USB-C at up to 9V/2A, a step up from the 3A input on the XROS 5.

The screen is small but earns its place

The 0.88-inch TFT display shows battery level and the current output. The menu is short: three power modes (Eco, Normal and Power), a puff counter, and wallpaper. Manual wattage in 0.5W steps only unlocks with the 0.4Ω pod; with every other pod, output follows the pod and the mode you pick. The screen’s main job is still to stop you guessing when to charge, and it does that.

VENTURI airflow is the other real upgrade

The XROS 5 used a simple slider. The XROS 6 uses Vaporesso’s VENTURI side airflow, which covers a wider range: closed down for a tight cigarette-style draw with the 0.8Ω pod and salt nicotine, opened up for a warmer restricted direct lung draw with the 0.6Ω pod. Set the airflow before you judge a new pod; it changes the result more than most people expect.

Same pods, same flavor

Flavor comes from COREX 3.0, the same hive-structure mesh coil that made the XROS 5 a step up from the XROS 4. The pods are unchanged, so a fresh pod on the XROS 6 tastes the same as it does on the XROS 5. That is good news: the 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω COREX 3.0 pods have been reliable performers, and the full range is stocked at Black Note as XROS Series replacement pods.

1. Charge the device with any USB-C cable. The XROS 6 supports up to 9V/2A; a standard phone charger works at a lower rate.
2. Choose a pod. The pre-installed 0.6Ω pod gives a warmer, airier draw; the spare 0.8Ω pod gives a tighter, cooler pull that suits salt nicotine.
3. Fill the pod through the top fill port. Do not overfill, and reseal the port firmly.
4. Let a fresh pod sit for a few minutes so the wick saturates. The device shows a 60 second Smart Prime reminder, but a few minutes is the better habit with thicker liquid.
5. Set the VENTURI airflow slider before the first draw. Closed for mouth to lung, open for restricted direct lung.
6. Draw to fire, or press the side button if you prefer button firing. Two quick presses open the menu; Normal mode is the sensible default.

For e-liquid, the 0.8Ω pod pairs with Black Note 50/50 blends and salt nicotine; the 0.6Ω pod handles 70/30 blends comfortably. Black Note uses no sweeteners, which keeps pods cleaner for longer than a sugary flavor would.

• Dry or burnt taste: stop drawing, confirm the pod has liquid, and make sure the wick was saturated before the first use. Replace a burnt pod; it will not recover.
• Gurgling or spitback: the pod was overfilled or drawn too hard. Wipe the mouthpiece, take gentler pulls, and keep the fill port sealed.
• Seepage at the base: wipe the pod base and the device contacts at every pod change. SSS 2.0 handles most of it, but light condensation is normal on any pod system.
• Weak hit on a good pod: check the airflow slider; a half-open setting on the 0.8Ω pod reads as weak. Close it down.
• Not firing: check the screen for battery level, then reseat the pod. The magnetic connection needs to be fully home.

Pods are the consumable. Most users get one to two weeks from a pod on unsweetened e-liquid before flavor fades, less on sweetened liquid.
