Frozen Fruit Monster Banana Ice Review: Ripe Banana, Light Menthol

Frozen Fruit Monster Banana Ice is the only bottle in the Frozen range with no uniced counterpart, because Fruit Monster does not make a plain banana on its own.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you specifically want banana and you want it uncomplicated. Nothing in the catalogue gives you a cleaner read of the fruit, and the light chill keeps it from getting heavy over a long session.
Skip it if you dislike banana, which is a large share of people, or you want complexity. One fruit and a light menthol is the entire proposition here.
One thing worth knowing: Because Fruit Monster makes no plain banana, this is the only way to get the fruit on its own from this brand. The alternatives all pair it with something else, which is a real constraint rather than a preference.
What it tastes like
Juicy ripe banana with a touch of menthol. This is the simplest bottle in the range, a single fruit with a light chill behind it and nothing else going on. The banana reads ripe rather than candied, closer to the real fruit than to banana taffy.
The menthol is a touch rather than a feature, roughly level with Black Cherry Ice and well short of the tropical or berry bottles. What cooling there is mostly serves to stop a soft, sweet fruit becoming cloying.
Retailer descriptions call the banana ripe rather than artificial and note the cooling as mild. It is consistently placed as the simplest bottle in the Frozen range.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm, and it carries the cooling well because a larger vapor volume spreads the chill across the draw rather than concentrating it in the throat.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG makes both the fruit and the menthol read more directly. The same cooling feels sharper in a 50/50 pod than in a 75VG tank.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw keeps the cooling controlled, and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. This blend rewards a restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm more than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the fruit and leaves the menthol standing alone. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
Banana rewards warmth and this bottle has little cooling to be sharpened by it, so it takes power more gracefully than the icier flavors. The ceiling is the fruit itself: pushed too hard, ripe banana turns towards a flat sweetness with no character left.
Airflow matters more on an iced blend than on a dessert. Opening it up makes the cooling feel sharper and more spread out; closing it down concentrates the fruit and warms the draw. If the blend feels too cold, close the airflow before you drop the wattage, because closing it keeps more of the fruit.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
Iced fruit is generally kinder to coils than a sweetened dessert, because there is no bakery or cream residue to caramelize. It is not free, though. This blend is sweetened, and sweetener is what darkens a coil. Soft sweet fruit with no acidity, so expect slightly shorter coil life than the tart bottles in this range. Expect shorter coil life than an unsweetened tobacco liquid and longer than you would get from a custard. This is a general statement about sweetened iced fruit; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Two habits specific to cold liquids. Cooling agents leave a faint residue that carries into the next flavor, so rinse a pod before switching to something warm. And avoid chain pulls at high power, which is the fastest way to a dry hit here because the menthol masks the early warning taste that usually tells you to stop.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
There is no uniced Fruit Monster Banana, so the usual comparison does not exist. The nearest things are Frozen Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana Ice, which adds strawberry to the same fruit, and Custard Monster Banana, which puts it over custard and turns it into a dessert.
PB and Jam Monster Banana is the third route: banana with peanut butter and buttered toast. Of the four, this is the only one that lets the fruit stand alone.
Frozen Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana Ice is the same banana with strawberry alongside it, if you want a little more going on.
Frozen Fruit Monster Mixed Berry Ice is the sharpest bottle in the line, which is the right second device for a banana all-day.
Verdict
The cleanest read of banana in the catalogue and the only one that does not pair it with something else. Light on cooling, simple by design, and either exactly what you want or not for you at all.
Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop Frozen Fruit Monster Banana Ice at Black Note.
