Freemax M Pro 3 Tank Review: Broad Coil Choice for DTL

The M Pro 3 is a coil-platform purchase as much as it is a tank purchase. The 28mm body, 5mL US glass, 810 drip tip, and 510 thread are conventional. What separates it is compatibility with the M1-D, 904L M Mesh, original M Pro Mesh, and M Pro RBA families.

The included M1-D 0.15-ohm coil is rated 50 to 80W, with Freemax marking 70W as its best point. The included 904L M2 0.2-ohm coil is rated 60 to 90W, with 80W marked as best. That makes the tank a direct-lung option for a regulated mod with enough power and a top surface that can accept a 28mm atomizer.

The caution is that this is not a complete vape. There is no battery, chipset, or charging cable in the tank package. This is an editorial review based on Freemax documentation, the live Black Note product page, and coil compatibility data. We have not completed an independent hands-on endurance test, so we do not score flavor, coil life, or leak resistance.

A 28mm base needs the right mod

The standard 510 thread makes the M Pro 3 broadly compatible, but the 28mm diameter still matters. Confirm that your mod’s top plate supports the tank without overhang and that its power and resistance range covers the coil you plan to use.

The two included coils have different ranges

The M1-D 0.15-ohm coil uses Freemax’s Double-D mesh design and works from 50 to 80W. The 904L M2 0.2-ohm coil works from 60 to 90W. Start low within the printed range and move up gradually rather than jumping straight to the marked best wattage.

The broader coil family is the long-term value

Black Note carries Freemax 904L M Mesh coils, and Freemax lists M1-D, 904L M, M Pro Mesh, and M Pro RBA compatibility. That gives experienced users several ways to tune power and draw without replacing the tank.

M Pro 3 versus M Pro 2

Both tanks use a 5mL reservoir, a 510 thread, an 810 drip tip, and the shared Freemax M coil family. The M Pro 3 ships with the newer M1-D 0.15-ohm Double-D mesh coil plus a 904L M2 0.2-ohm coil, while the M Pro 2 ships with 904L M1 and M2 coils. Freemax also lists the M1-D as compatible with the M Pro 2 and the original M Pro, so moving to the M Pro 3 does not create an isolated coil platform. The older tank varies by edition at 25mm or 28.2mm, while the M Pro 3 is 28mm, so mod overhang still needs to be checked.

1. Confirm your regulated mod supports the coil’s resistance and wattage range and has room for a 28mm tank.
2. Choose the preinstalled M1-D 0.15-ohm coil for its 50 to 80W range or install the included 904L M2 0.2-ohm coil for 60 to 90W.
3. Install the coil firmly and wet the exposed wicking ports with e-liquid.
4. Lift and slide the child-resistant top cap, fill the 5mL glass without overfilling, close the cap, and allow the wick to saturate according to the coil instructions.
5. Open the bottom airflow, start near the low end of the coil range, and increase wattage in small steps.

The M Pro 3 is built for lower-strength, VG-forward freebase e-liquid at direct-lung power. It is not a sensible match for high-strength salt liquid intended for a small pod. Browse the Black Note e-liquid range and choose a formulation appropriate for sub-ohm use.

• Dry or burnt taste: stop firing, confirm the tank has liquid, and replace a damaged coil. Never solve a dry taste by adding power.
• Gurgling: check the coil seal, clear excess liquid from the airflow path, and confirm the top cap is closed.
• Leaking at the base: inspect the coil, O-rings, and glass seating. Replace damaged seals before refilling.
• No atomizer message: clean and dry the 510 contacts, reinstall the tank, and confirm the coil is seated correctly.
• Muted output: verify the mod is reading the expected resistance and that the wattage is within the coil’s printed range.
