Jam Monster Mixed Berry Review: Three Berries on One Slice

Jam Monster Mixed Berry is the whole berry half of the line in one bottle. It is the pick for anyone who cannot choose between the single-fruit jams, and the one that reads least like any specific preserve.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you get bored of single-note flavors. Three fruits give the blend enough movement to stay interesting across a full bottle, which is the usual reason people pick a mixed berry over a single berry.
Skip it if you want to taste one fruit clearly. If blackberry is what you are after, the single-fruit bottle delivers it with far more definition than this does.
One thing worth knowing: Blends with several fruits shift more than single-fruit blends do as a coil ages. The strawberry usually fades first, which makes an old coil taste darker and less sweet. That is a coil signal rather than a bad bottle.
What it tastes like
Blackberry sets the base and gives the blend its depth. Strawberry sits on top and supplies most of the sweetness. Blueberry fills the gap between them, which is why the blend reads as one jam rather than three taking turns.
The consequence of stacking three fruits is that no single one is sharply defined, and that is the honest trade. What you gain is a jam that does not get boring, because the balance shifts slightly depending on power and airflow. The toast holds its place underneath throughout.
Retailer descriptions list blackberry, strawberry and blueberry, usually in that order, over warm buttered toast. The recurring observation is that it reads as a single jam rather than as separate fruits.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm. On a jam and toast blend the high VG does real work: it gives the butter and bread notes enough body to sit under the jam instead of disappearing behind it.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG sharpens the jam. The trade is that the toast reads fainter in a 50/50 pod than it does in a 75VG tank, which is the biggest difference between the two formats here.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod with a coil around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw concentrates the blend and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. A restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm suits this better than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the jam out. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
Power changes which berry is in front. Lower wattage favors the strawberry and the sweetness; higher wattage pushes the blackberry forward and dries the blend out. Neither is wrong, so it is worth spending a tank finding which balance you prefer rather than settling on the first setting that works.
Opening the airflow thins the jam and pushes the blend toward a generic sweet fruit; closing it down concentrates the bakery side and warms the draw. On this family, err toward a tighter airflow than you would use for a plain fruit. The toast is the part you lose first.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
This is where a jam and toast blend costs you. Sweetened bakery e-liquids are the hardest category on coils, because sugar and the bread and butter notes both caramelize onto hot wire. Three cooked fruits means more residue than a single-fruit jam. Coil life sits at the shorter end of the Jam Monster range, though still ahead of anything with peanut butter in it. Expect noticeably shorter coil life than a fruit blend, and plan on it rather than being surprised by it. This is a general statement about sweetened bakery e-liquid; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Three things genuinely help: run at the lower end of your coil’s range, avoid chain pulls that let the wick run dry, and rinse a pod between refills when switching flavors. Mesh coils outlast round wire here.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
This fruit exists across three Monster lines, which is unusual and useful. Fruit Monster Mixed Berry is the same family with no bakery and a fourth berry, Custard Monster Mixed Berry puts it on cream, and this one puts it on toast. Same fruit, three different bases, which makes it the easiest place to work out what you actually want underneath your fruit.
Within the Jam Monster line this is the busiest bottle. Blackberry gives you the same base fruit with much more definition, and Strawberry gives you the sweetness on its own.
Custard Monster Mixed Berry is the same berry stack on cream instead of toast, the clearest base comparison available in this catalogue.
Fruit Monster Mixed Berry is four berries with no bakery, the lightest way to carry the same fruit family.
Verdict
The one to buy if you want variety inside a single bottle, and a genuinely useful reference point because the same berry stack exists on three different bases here. Start at the lower end of your coil range and adjust once you know which berry you want in front.
Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop Jam Monster Mixed Berry at Black Note.
