Frozen Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana Ice Review: Smoothie on Ice

Frozen Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana Ice is the softest bottle in the Frozen range, because banana brings a creamy texture note that none of the other iced fruits have.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you want an iced fruit that is not sharp. This is the gentlest of the seven and the easiest to hand to someone who finds tart vapes unpleasant. It is also the closest the Frozen line gets to a dessert without leaving the fruit category.
Skip it if you want the cooling to be the point, or you dislike banana. Banana is the most polarizing flavor in vaping and it is unmistakable here.
One thing worth knowing: If you have only met banana in candy or taffy blends, this is a different thing. The fruit reads ripe rather than confected, much like the banana in the Custard Monster bottle.
What it tastes like
Creamy banana and sweet strawberry over an icy backbone. Banana has no acidity, so instead of two fruits competing you get one smooth blend that lands close to a strawberry banana smoothie. Strawberry supplies what little brightness there is.
The menthol has more work to do here than in the tart bottles. Against a soft, creamy fruit the chill reads as contrast rather than reinforcement, which is what stops the blend becoming heavy.
Retailer descriptions consistently reach for smoothie as the reference point and call the banana creamy rather than candied. The cooling is described as a backbone rather than a headline.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm, and it carries the cooling well because a larger vapor volume spreads the chill across the draw rather than concentrating it in the throat.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG makes both the fruit and the menthol read more directly. The same cooling feels sharper in a 50/50 pod than in a 75VG tank.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw keeps the cooling controlled, and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. This blend rewards a restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm more than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the fruit and leaves the menthol standing alone. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
Banana rewards a little more warmth than the tart fruits, because heat brings the ripe note forward. The catch is that warmth also strengthens the menthol, so you are trading a better banana for a colder exhale. Find the point where both are tolerable rather than optimising either.
Airflow matters more on an iced blend than on a dessert. Opening it up makes the cooling feel sharper and more spread out; closing it down concentrates the fruit and warms the draw. If the blend feels too cold, close the airflow before you drop the wattage, because closing it keeps more of the fruit.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
Iced fruit is generally kinder to coils than a sweetened dessert, because there is no bakery or cream residue to caramelize. It is not free, though. This blend is sweetened, and sweetener is what darkens a coil. Creamier fruit means slightly more residue than the tart bottles, though still well short of a custard. Expect shorter coil life than an unsweetened tobacco liquid and longer than you would get from a custard. This is a general statement about sweetened iced fruit; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Two habits specific to cold liquids. Cooling agents leave a faint residue that carries into the next flavor, so rinse a pod before switching to something warm. And avoid chain pulls at high power, which is the fastest way to a dry hit here because the menthol masks the early warning taste that usually tells you to stop.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
Against the uniced Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana, the chill does more here than it does elsewhere in the line, because it is the only thing cutting a blend with no acidity in it. The uniced version is noticeably heavier as a result.
For the same banana without strawberry, Banana Ice is the single-fruit version. For banana as an actual dessert, Custard Monster Banana puts it over custard instead of ice.
Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana is the uniced original, which is the same smoothie without the cold edge.
Frozen Fruit Monster Mixed Berry Ice is the sharpest thing in the same line, for when this one starts feeling too soft.
Verdict
The gentlest bottle in the Frozen range and the one to pick if tart iced fruits are not for you. A little extra warmth brings the banana out, at the cost of a colder exhale.
Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop Frozen Fruit Monster Strawberry Banana Ice at Black Note.
