PB & Jam Monster Strawberry Review: Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam

PB and Jam Monster Strawberry is the sandwich most people actually mean when they say peanut butter and jelly, and it is the most complete of the three bottles in this line.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you want the heaviest flavor in the catalogue and you like nutty desserts. It is also the best evening bottle in the whole Monster range, because it is far too much for an all-day rotation.
Skip it if you want something light, or you are running a single device. Peanut butter is the most stubborn flavor here for carryover and it will haunt the next two fills.
One thing worth knowing: Peanut butter is a heavy, fatty note and it needs a device that can carry it. This is the one flavor in the catalogue where a thin, low-power setup genuinely cannot do the blend justice.
What it tastes like
Peanut butter leads and it is the creamy, commercial kind rather than anything roasted or dry. It sits heavy on the inhale and it does not step aside, which is the defining feature of this whole line and the reason it divides people.
Strawberry jam arrives over the top and cuts through the fat, which is the same job it does in the sandwich. The toast closes it out. Of the three flavors here, strawberry is the one where the jam is best matched to the peanut butter, because it is sweet enough to register without being sugary enough to unbalance it.
Retailer descriptions name creamy peanut butter and sticky strawberry jam on warm buttered toast. The peanut butter is consistently listed first, which matches where it sits in the blend.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. This blend needs the high VG more than most: peanut butter is a heavy, fatty note and it wants the body a 75VG mix provides. In a thin mix it reads as a vague nuttiness rather than peanut butter.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. It wicks properly in pod coils, but be honest about the trade: the peanut butter is the first thing to thin out at 50/50. The jam stays bright and the toast survives, while the nut note steps back.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod with a coil around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw concentrates the blend and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. A restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm suits this better than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the jam out. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
Peanut butter needs more power than the jam does, which puts the two in tension. Too low and the nut note reads as a vague savory smear behind the fruit. Too high and the butter goes acrid before the peanut ever fully arrives. The middle of your coil’s range is the right place to start here, not the bottom.
Airflow matters more here than on any other Monster line. A wide-open draw pulls the blend apart into sweet jam and a vague savory smear. A tight draw keeps peanut butter, toast and jam stacked in the order they are meant to arrive. If this blend has ever tasted muddy to you, close the airflow before you change anything else.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
Peanut butter is the heaviest thing Monster Vape Labs puts in a bottle, and it behaves that way on a coil. Between the nut note, the butter and the sweetened jam, this is the shortest coil life in the range. This is the shortest coil life in the catalogue. Peanut butter, butter and sweetened jam all leave residue, and they compound. Expect to change coils sooner than on any other flavor here, and expect a fresh coil to taste noticeably better than a week-old one. This is a general statement about heavy dessert e-liquid; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Three things genuinely help: run at the lower end of your coil’s range, avoid chain pulls that let the wick run dry, and rinse a pod between refills when switching flavors. Mesh coils outlast round wire here.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
Against Jam Monster Strawberry, this is the same blend with a heavy layer added. The plain version is brighter and easier to live with; this one is richer and more filling. Most people who try both keep the plain one for daytime and this one for evenings, which is a more useful way to think about it than picking a winner.
Within this line, Grape is sweeter and more nostalgic and Banana swaps jam for fruit entirely. Strawberry is the most balanced of the three and the right place to start.
Jam Monster Strawberry is the same jam and toast without the peanut butter, which is the lighter option for daytime.
Custard Monster Vanilla is plain cream, which is about the only thing in the range that can follow this without being buried.
Verdict
The best of the three and the most complete peanut butter blend in the catalogue. Give it more power than you would give a plain jam, run it in its own pod, and buy coils.
Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop PB & Jam Monster Strawberry at Black Note.
