Jam Monster Blueberry Review: Blueberry Jam on Warm Toast

Jam Monster Blueberry sits between the bright strawberry and the dark blackberry, and it is the most balanced bottle of the nine. If you want one jam that does everything reasonably well, this is it.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you want a middle-of-the-road bakery bottle that will not tire you out and will not surprise you either. It is the safest all-day pick in the line.
Skip it if you want a flavor with an edge. Balanced is the honest description, and balanced can read as unremarkable if you are after a strong character.
One thing worth knowing: Blueberry is the least fussy of the nine about setup. If you are buying a jam blend for a device you have not dialled in yet, this is the one most likely to taste right on the first try.
What it tastes like
Blueberry jam is rounder than blackberry and less sugary than strawberry. It reads cooked and slightly jammy-tart, the way a real blueberry preserve does, without the wine-like depth of the darker berries.
The toast and butter come through cleanly on the exhale because the fruit is not fighting them. This is the flavor where the two halves of the Jam Monster idea are closest to equal, which is both its strength and, for some people, the reason it feels less distinctive than the outliers.
Retailer descriptions name rich blueberry jam and warm buttery toast, in that order. The recurring note is balance rather than any one component dominating.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm. On a jam and toast blend the high VG does real work: it gives the butter and bread notes enough body to sit under the jam instead of disappearing behind it.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG sharpens the jam. The trade is that the toast reads fainter in a 50/50 pod than it does in a 75VG tank, which is the biggest difference between the two formats here.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod with a coil around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw concentrates the blend and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. A restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm suits this better than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the jam out. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
Blueberry is forgiving across a wider band than apple or strawberry. You still lose the toast at the top of the range, but the fall-off is gradual rather than sudden, which is why it suits people still working out their setup.
Opening the airflow thins the jam and pushes the blend toward a generic sweet fruit; closing it down concentrates the bakery side and warms the draw. On this family, err toward a tighter airflow than you would use for a plain fruit. The toast is the part you lose first.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
This is where a jam and toast blend costs you. Sweetened bakery e-liquids are the hardest category on coils, because sugar and the bread and butter notes both caramelize onto hot wire. Coil life is mid-range for the family, similar to blackberry but with slightly less visible staining on the wick. Expect noticeably shorter coil life than a fruit blend, and plan on it rather than being surprised by it. This is a general statement about sweetened bakery e-liquid; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Three things genuinely help: run at the lower end of your coil’s range, avoid chain pulls that let the wick run dry, and rinse a pod between refills when switching flavors. Mesh coils outlast round wire here.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
Against Custard Monster Blueberry, you are choosing between bread and cream under the same fruit. The custard version is heavier and sweeter on the finish; this one is drier and finishes cleaner. Neither is better, and people tend to have a firm preference once they have tried both.
Within the Jam Monster line, Blackberry is darker and less sweet, Raspberry is brighter and tarter, and Mixed Berry rolls blueberry in with two others. This is the one that sits comfortably in the middle.
Custard Monster Blueberry is the same fruit on cream rather than toast, a direct comparison of the two bases.
Fruit Monster Blueberry Raspberry Lemon is blueberry with citrus and no bakery, a much lighter option for warm weather.
Verdict
The most reliable of the nine and the easiest to live with. Not the most interesting bottle in the line, which is exactly why it is the one people keep re-ordering.
