Jam Monster Apple Review: Apple Jam and Warm Toast

Jam Monster Apple is the crispest bottle in the line and the one that reads closest to a baked dessert rather than a jar of preserve on bread. It is the flavor to reach for if the berry jams feel too sweet.

This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.

At a glance
Flavor Jam Monster Apple is crisp apple jam spread across warm, buttery white toast. It is a bakery profile rather than a straight fruit or tobacco one. The jam leads on the inhale and the buttered toast arrives on the exhale.
Formats A 100mL freebase bottle at 75VG/25PG, and a 30mL salt nicotine bottle at 50VG/50PG.
Strengths 3mg and 6mg in the 100mL freebase. 24mg and 48mg in the 30mL salt nicotine.
Best device fit The 30mL salt bottle suits a mouth-to-lung pod. The 100mL freebase suits a restricted direct-lung sub-ohm coil.
Sweetness Our judgment, not a measurement: sweet, with the buttered toast the only thing balancing it.
Coil behavior Sweetened bakery blends are the hardest category on coils. A general statement about the category, not a test of this bottle.
Bottom line The one to pick if you want a bakery e-liquid that does not tire you out.

Who this is for

You will get on with it if you find most bakery e-liquids too sweet but still want a dessert. The tartness does the work that menthol does in a fruit blend: it resets the palate between puffs and makes a long session possible.

Skip it if you want a rich, jammy sweetness. Apple is the driest of the nine, and if you came to this line for indulgence the berries deliver it better.

One thing worth knowing: Apple is unusually sensitive to power. A few watts too many turns a crisp apple into stewed apple, and a few more turns it into burnt sugar. If this has ever tasted muddy to you, drop the wattage before you blame the bottle.

What it tastes like

Apple leads, and it keeps some bite. Where the berry flavors in this line go straight to cooked sweetness, the apple retains a tartness that cuts through the butter and gives the blend structure. It is a green-leaning apple rather than a red one, which is what keeps it from reading as apple candy.

The toast is more noticeable here than almost anywhere else in the line, precisely because the apple is not smothering it. Apple and buttered pastry are a pairing people already know, so the blend lands as something familiar rather than as an invention. Push the power too hard and it slides from apple pie toward caramelized sugar.

Retailer descriptions consistently describe it as apple jam on buttered toast, with crispness named as the distinguishing feature against the rest of the line. Apple pie is the comparison that comes up most often.

We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.

Formats, strengths and what to pick

The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm. On a jam and toast blend the high VG does real work: it gives the butter and bread notes enough body to sit under the jam instead of disappearing behind it.

The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG sharpens the jam. The trade is that the toast reads fainter in a 50/50 pod than it does in a 75VG tank, which is the biggest difference between the two formats here.

The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.

If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.

Device fit and settings

Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.

For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod with a coil around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw concentrates the blend and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.

For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. A restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm suits this better than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the jam out. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.

Apple loses its edge as power climbs, which runs opposite to how the bakery notes behave. The sweet spot is lower than most people expect. On a 0.6 ohm coil, start in the high teens rather than the mid twenties and work up only if the toast is missing.

Opening the airflow thins the jam and pushes the blend toward a generic sweet fruit; closing it down concentrates the bakery side and warms the draw. On this family, err toward a tighter airflow than you would use for a plain fruit. The toast is the part you lose first.

Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.

Coil life and care

This is where a jam and toast blend costs you. Sweetened bakery e-liquids are the hardest category on coils, because sugar and the bread and butter notes both caramelize onto hot wire. Apple is the kindest of the nine on coils, because there is less heavy cooked-fruit residue than the berry flavors leave behind. Expect noticeably shorter coil life than a fruit blend, and plan on it rather than being surprised by it. This is a general statement about sweetened bakery e-liquid; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.

Three things genuinely help: run at the lower end of your coil’s range, avoid chain pulls that let the wick run dry, and rinse a pod between refills when switching flavors. Mesh coils outlast round wire here.

If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.

Alternatives in the range and beyond

Apple has no peanut butter counterpart, which is worth saying plainly: PB and Jam Monster is made in Strawberry, Grape and Banana only. If you want this profile heavier, the nearest move is a custard alongside it rather than a different jam.

Within the Jam Monster line, this is the outlier. Strawberry and Raspberry are sweeter and rounder, Blackberry and Black Cherry are darker and jammier, and Grape is the sweetest of all. Apple is the only one with real acidity.

Jam Monster Peach is the other stone-and-orchard option in the line, softer and sweeter where this is crisp.

Custard Monster Vanilla is plain custard, which turns this into something close to apple pie and cream if you run them in sequence.

Verdict

The one to pick if you want a bakery e-liquid that does not tire you out. Keep the wattage lower than instinct suggests and the apple stays crisp, which is the entire reason to choose this over the berries.

Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop Jam Monster Apple at Black Note.

Frequently asked questions

Jam Monster Apple is crisp apple jam spread across warm, buttery white toast. It is a bakery profile rather than a straight fruit or tobacco one. The jam leads on the inhale and the buttered toast arrives on the exhale. We have not tasted it; that is the maker's description as carried on our product page.

They are different bottles for different devices. The 100mL freebase is 75VG/25PG in 3mg and 6mg, made for sub-ohm tanks and box mods. The 30mL salt nicotine is 50VG/50PG in 24mg and 48mg, made for pods and low-wattage devices. Salt nicotine stays smoother at high strength, which is why the pod format carries the bigger numbers.

Four strengths across two formats. The 100mL freebase comes in 3mg and 6mg, which suits sub-ohm tanks where each puff delivers more vapor. The 30mL salt nicotine comes in 24mg and 48mg, which suits pod systems where the puff is smaller. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up.

Sweetened bakery blends are the hardest category on coils. A general statement about the category, not a test of this bottle. Running at the lower end of your coil's range and avoiding chain pulls both help. We have not measured coil life on this bottle, so treat that as general guidance rather than a test result.
