Frozen Fruit Monster Mixed Berry Ice Review: Four Berries and a Cold Finish

Frozen Fruit Monster Mixed Berry Ice is the busiest bottle in the Frozen line, stacking four berries over a menthol finish rather than building around one fruit.
This is an editorial product review. It is based on the maker’s stated flavor description and the live Black Note product record. Nobody at Black Note has vaped this bottle, so you will not find tasting notes or a score below.
Who this is for
You will get on with it if you find single fruit e-liquids get boring before the bottle is finished. The layered berries keep the palate moving, and the tartness plus the cooling makes this the most refreshing bottle in the Frozen range.
Skip it if you want to taste a specific berry. Four fruits at once means none of them is distinct, and if blueberry or strawberry is the thing you want, the single-fruit custards will give you more of it.
One thing worth knowing: Mixed berry blends are the hardest profile to judge from one tank. The tart notes fade first as a coil ages and the sweeter ones last, so a bottle that read bright on day one can taste flat by day five on the same coil.
What it tastes like
Crisp strawberry, blueberry, blackberry and raspberry with an icy finish. Four berries is enough that no single one dominates, so the blend reads as berry rather than as any particular fruit. Raspberry supplies most of the tartness, blackberry most of the depth, and strawberry keeps the top end sweet.
The cooling lands on the exhale and works with the tart edge rather than against it. Of the seven Frozen flavors this is the one where the chill feels most integral, because tart berries and menthol pull in the same direction.
Retailer copy consistently frames this as the fullest of the Frozen fruits and the one for people who cannot pick a single berry. Crisp is the recurring word, and the cooling is described as clean rather than heavy.
We have not tasted this bottle, so treat the description above as a reading of the maker’s own wording rather than our tasting notes.
Formats, strengths and what to pick
The 100mL freebase bottle is mixed at 75VG/25PG. That is a vapor-forward ratio suited to sub-ohm tanks, box mods and coils rated under 1.0 ohm, and it carries the cooling well because a larger vapor volume spreads the chill across the draw rather than concentrating it in the throat.
The 30mL salt nicotine bottle is mixed at 50VG/50PG. The balanced ratio is thinner, so it feeds small pod coils without starving them, and the extra PG makes both the fruit and the menthol read more directly. The same cooling feels sharper in a 50/50 pod than in a 75VG tank.
The more vapor your device makes per puff, the lower the strength you want. If you are between two strengths, go down rather than up: a strength that is slightly too low is a minor annoyance, and one that is too high will put you off the bottle entirely.
If you are moving away from cigarettes and unsure where to start, the vape quiz covers strength and device together in about a minute.
| VG/PG | Strengths | Suits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100mL freebase | 75VG/25PG | 3mg, 6mg | Sub-ohm tanks and pod mods |
| 30mL salt nicotine | 50VG/50PG | 24mg, 48mg | Pods and low-wattage devices |
Device fit and settings
Match the format to the hardware. This is the single most common mistake made with a 100mL bottle.
For the 30mL salt version at 50VG/50PG, use a mouth-to-lung pod around 1.0 to 1.2 ohm. The tighter draw keeps the cooling controlled, and the 50/50 mix wicks fast enough that you will not chase dry hits. The Black Note Pod System is our own refillable and is built around 50/50 liquids. The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro adds adjustable airflow, which is the main lever on how sweet this reads, and the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini is the steadier choice for all-day carry.
For the 100mL freebase version at 75VG/25PG, go sub-ohm. This blend rewards a restricted direct-lung coil around 0.6 ohm more than a wide-open cloud setup, because big airflow thins the fruit and leaves the menthol standing alone. The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 handles 75VG without a full tank setup, and the Geekvape Aegis Solo 3 is the one to pick if flavor matters more to you than pocket size.
This is the Frozen bottle where wattage changes which berries you taste rather than just how loudly. Lower power favors strawberry and blackberry, higher power brings raspberry’s tartness forward and sharpens the menthol with it. Worth a few tanks finding the balance you want.
Airflow matters more on an iced blend than on a dessert. Opening it up makes the cooling feel sharper and more spread out; closing it down concentrates the fruit and warms the draw. If the blend feels too cold, close the airflow before you drop the wattage, because closing it keeps more of the fruit.
Prime a new coil properly by wetting the exposed cotton, filling, then leaving it five to ten minutes before the first pull. At 75VG the liquid moves slowly, and not waiting is the most common way to ruin a coil on day one.
| Starting wattage | Draw | Which bottle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 ohm | 8 to 14W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 1.0 ohm | 10 to 16W | Mouth to lung | 30mL salt nicotine |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 20W | Loose mouth to lung | Either |
| 0.6 ohm | 15 to 25W | Restricted direct lung | 100mL freebase |
| 0.4 ohm | 20 to 35W | Direct lung | 100mL freebase |
Coil life and care
Iced fruit is generally kinder to coils than a sweetened dessert, because there is no bakery or cream residue to caramelize. It is not free, though. This blend is sweetened, and sweetener is what darkens a coil. Berry blends sit at the lighter end for coil life, and this one has no cream to make it worse. Expect shorter coil life than an unsweetened tobacco liquid and longer than you would get from a custard. This is a general statement about sweetened iced fruit; we have not tested coil life on this bottle.
Two habits specific to cold liquids. Cooling agents leave a faint residue that carries into the next flavor, so rinse a pod before switching to something warm. And avoid chain pulls at high power, which is the fastest way to a dry hit here because the menthol masks the early warning taste that usually tells you to stop.
If coil cost is the thing that bothers you, that is a real argument for an unsweetened blend rather than something to work around. Black Note Special Blend and Special Blend 3.0 are naturally extracted tobacco e-liquids made without added sweeteners.
Alternatives in the range and beyond
The obvious one is the uniced Fruit Monster Mixed Berry. Same four berries, no chill. If you liked that but found it cloying by the third tank, the cooling here is what fixes that.
There are three mixed berry bottles across the Monster lines and they are genuinely different products. Jam Monster Mixed Berry puts the berries on buttered toast, Custard Monster Mixed Berry sits them on custard, and this one serves them cold with no dessert base at all. In order of weight, this is the lightest of the three.
Fruit Monster Mixed Berry is the uniced original, which is the warmer-weather and cold-weather pair to this one.
Custard Monster Banana is the heaviest dessert in the catalogue, which is the right contrast when a cold berry stops registering.
Verdict
The most refreshing bottle in the Frozen range and the easiest to stay on through a hot afternoon. The tartness and the menthol do the same job, which is why it lasts longer than a sweeter iced fruit.
Both formats sit on the same page, so you can pick the bottle that matches your device rather than buying twice. Shop Frozen Fruit Monster Mixed Berry Ice at Black Note.
