Vaping Battery Safety

Vape batteries are the most common chargeable part of eCigarettes. We use them to power vaping devices and deliver the power they need to function. Vape batteries come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and voltages, but all share some common vaping battery safety tips.

“3 Quick Tips About E-Cig Battery Safety Guide: never carry loose batteries in pockets or bags, never leave a charging battery unattended, and only charge batteries with the provided chargers or cables and don’t mix different branded products.” – okvape.co.uk

What You Need To Know About Vaping & Battery Safety

Batteries can pose great risks if we mishandle or do not care for them. Following these instructions will help you charge batteries safely while getting quality service out of them:

Do Not Use Damaged Batteries

Regularly inspect batteries for any damage. Exposing the battery to moisture or other contaminants causes safety issues. Batteries can be damaged by dropping them or if they are exposed to extreme heat, moisture, or cold.

The impact of dropping a vape kit battery causes pressure accumulation, leading to an explosion. If you have any doubt about the integrity of a battery, contact the manufacturer.

Keep Batteries Away from Metal and Other Conductive Objects

Batteries can short-circuit, explode and cause fires. This is why you should always keep batteries away from coins, keys, and other conductive objects that could potentially damage the battery’s electrical circuits or cause it to overheat.

Keep your batteries cool because they’re not designed for high temperatures. Keeping them in your pocket with other items that generate heat (like lighters or keys) could cause them to overheat and even catch fire, so don’t do this!

If a battery catches on fire (this happens when there’s an internal fault with the device), don’t use water – instead, move to a safe area and call the local emergency response team for help as soon as possible.

Do Not Overcharge Vape Batteries

Over-charging batteries is unsafe and can damage them. E-cigarette battery explosions are common in unattended batteries while they are charging. Batteries can overheat and cause an explosion or fire if left on a charger for too long.

Unplug the charger from the power source once the batteries are full. Never leave them to charge overnight.

Always Keep Batteries in a Secure Place or Container

Batteries are the heart of an electronic cigarette, and you should always keep them in a secure place or container. If stored properly, batteries will last for years before we need to replace them.

Here are some tips for keeping your vaping battery safe:

  • Keep batteries away from children and pets. They can be dangerous if swallowed or chewed on by small children or pets who may not know the dangers of a battery.
  • Never leave them near water sources like sinks or bathtubs. If they fall into the water, they could short circuit.
  • Use the prescribed charging current on the device.
  • Only charge vape batteries with a charger from the manufacturer. You should not mix brands.

Turn Off Vape Batteries If Not in Use

Note that this applies to only manual eCig batteries; Draw activated vapes don’t need turning off.

We turn batteries off to avoid accidental pressing of the switch when not in use.

Most vapes are locked or turned off if you press the power button repeatedly (three or five times). Check each vape’s instructions manual on how to use it.

Are Vape Batteries Safe?

Yes, vape batteries are safe if we take good care of them.

We design and test vape batteries to ensure they can handle the amount of current they produce, and they’re tested again when put into use. But if you’re not careful, you could end up damaging your battery, or worse, causing an accident.

Can a Vape Battery Catch on Fire?

Vape batteries catching fire is a reasonable concern because many batteries can do just that, but it doesn’t have to be something you worry about.

Most vape batteries are similar to the ones used in laptops and cell phones. That means they can catch on fire if they’re damaged or used improperly. But that doesn’t mean all vape batteries are dangerous—it just means we have to treat them with care.

What Are the Dangers of Vape Pens?

One thing that is definitely not dangerous about vape pens is the vapor itself—it’s just natural tobacco that vaporizes. It’s totally harmless, as it can help you quit cigarette smoking. However, there are some other concerns you should know about when using vape pens.

When vaping, it’s easy to forget that your battery is a source of power—and power can be dangerous. Lithium-ion batteries have been known to catch fire in some situations. It’s important to follow the safety precautions that come with using them.

Mishandling or overcharging vape batteries can make them dangerous.

Second, there’s nicotine poisoning. Nicotine is addictive and poisonous if ingested in large quantities—this is why it’s dangerous for kids to chew on cigarettes or eat e-juice cartridges that have spilled on the floor (or had their caps left off). Keep all e-juice bottles out of reach of children and pets whose sweet smells may tempt them.

Why Do Vape Batteries Need to Be Wrapped?

A battery wrap prevents batteries from shorting and leaking all over your gear! It keeps them safe from getting damaged or lost while they’re not in use.

Most vape batteries are not designed to be exposed to moisture and cold. If you leave your battery out in the open air for too long, it can start to degrade and lose its charge faster than it should. This causes safety issues when the battery is exposed to moisture or other contaminants.

Replace the rechargeable batteries for your refillable device when they are damaged.

By wrapping your vape batteries in plastic wrap—and then putting them in an airtight container—you can protect them and extend their life.

Vape Battery Safety Wrap Up

Vape battery safety is paramount because there are many risks when it comes to vaping. Implementing the above safety measures can help keep you and those around you safe.
