Description

Latakia Tobacco: A Rich Tapestry of Flavor

Flavor Profile: Smoky & Peppery

Latakia Tobacco, known as ‘Quartet’ in the Black Note collection, is celebrated for its rich, intense, smoky, and peppery flavor. This unique delight for the senses is achieved through the traditional Syrian Latakia process. It begins with sun-curing the tobacco, followed by a meticulous smoke-curing over controlled fires of fragrant wood and indigenous aromatic herbs. This process imbues the leaves with a robust and distinctive character, setting Latakia apart in the world of tobacco.

Historical Roots: The Birth of Latakia

The creation of Latakia tobacco is a tale woven into the fabric of the Ottoman Empire’s history in Northern Syria. Farmers, overwhelmed with surplus Oriental tobacco, stored their excess crop at home, planning to sell it the following year. During the winter, they warmed their homes with fires fueled by aromatic wood, inadvertently infusing the stored tobacco with a rich, smoky essence. This tobacco, named after the Latakia region in Syria, quickly gained popularity for its unique flavor and aroma, leading to the intentional smoke-curing of tobacco that we know today.

The Art of Aging Latakia Tobacco

The Journey to Perfection: Why Aging Matters

Latakia tobacco undergoes a lengthy aging process, often spanning an average of five years, to reach its peak flavor. This period of maturation allows the tobacco to develop a more complex and nuanced profile, much like fine wine. The wait is a testament to the dedication to quality, ensuring that each batch of Latakia offers a rich, peppery taste that is both unique and memorable.

The Double-Curing Method: Crafting the Flavor

The hallmark of Latakia tobacco is its double-curing process. It starts with sun-curing in sealed barns to reduce moisture, followed by smoke-curing over fires fueled by a blend of aromatic herbs and wood. This method not only preserves the tobacco but also enhances its flavor, creating a smoky and peppery profile that is unmistakably Latakia.

Origins of Double-Curing: A Happy Accident

The double-curing method has its roots in an accidental discovery by Northern Syrian tobacco farmers during the Ottoman Empire. With excess tobacco stored at home over winter, the leaves absorbed the smoky aromas from the open fires used for cooking and heating. This serendipitous process resulted in a tobacco with a rich, heavy taste and smoky aroma that was an instant hit in the markets. This success led to the intentional replication of the process, giving birth to the Latakia tobacco we cherish today.

    AWESOME

    From a 40 year smoker, FANTASTIC….

  2. Jonathan (verified owner)

    Smok’n!

Very smokey flavor. This makes me think of a campfire. The smokey flavor of this is so authentic and spot on that I kept thinking I was burning my coil. Haha! I will admit, before my palate acclimated to this flavor, my first impression of this was that it was like sucking air from a used tire. The flavor is by far the strongest I’ve tried from BlackNote. But after a few days with Quartet I find that I really like it and can’t get enough. From my personal experience with my current tank/mod setup I find that if I exhale into the tank for a split second before inhaling I get more of the desirable flavors. Also exhaling slowly out the nose allows me to smell/taste all the subtle overtone and undertone nuances of this amazing juice. Another interesting side note: A few people at my work vape while there are more people who still smoke. Since my work place requires all of use to exercise our habits in the designated areas I’m often hanging with the other vapers and smokers outside. Since I first started vaping Quartet I’ve had vapers and smoker alike asking to try it. Apparently the aroma of this is quite alluring. I’ve never had anyone ask to try it with any of the other flavors I’ve vaped. The only con to BlackNote is that now I have a bunch of other brands of tobacco ejuices that will probably never get used. :p

  3. Ken

    A Beautiful Addition

*Tips hat* Quartet is unique in a sense that even after going through a Notebook, it still has a very defined, and very specific taste. I love it. It is very smokey, and I find the description for the procurement method entirely accurate in the flavor profile. I love being able to bounce back and forth between the sweetness of Prelude, to now the boldness and smokiness of Quartet. It’s a range within the tobacco types that I can appreciate. Wonderful flavor and I am looking forward to many more.

  4. Risto (verified owner)

    Love it

I found Quartet to have a very beautiful smokey taste and it is very nice vaping experience. Love it

    Sonata

Great taste , my second favorite ejuice from blacknote behind cadenza

  6. Alex N

    Great Flavor

Seems to me like a perfect match for those who smoked pipe tobacco and miss it. Mildly spicy and rich flavor. Very distinct Juniper and milder pine might be too strong for some, but amazing flavor. At times when something milder is desired mixing it with Prelude or Adagio might be a perfect balance depending on the mood or time of day. Overall I think is a must to try for those who like the real tobacco flavor without a mess of a pipe.

    Great products!

Great products! All of the flavors taste and smoke really well. Highly recommend, doesn’t taste like alcohol or perfume, very nice!

  10. Anthony

    Quartet

I received a sample bottle from a friend. This is alright but not my favorite in the line. A little strong and a bit too smoky for my tastes. I’m sure others will find it perfect for them.

  11. Lygushkia (verified owner)

    Jaw dropping flavor

Oh…my…Lord!! I believe I found my new favorite! It has a powerful taste and bold flavors, I can taste the woody, Herby, undertones and love the peppery smokey overtones!! I really hope they make this blend part of their regular stock because this juice is fantastic!!

  12. Jerzy (verified owner)

    Superior quality

Mixing 50% Quartet with 50% Bravura created a perfect blend for me.

  13. Todd (verified owner)

    Unique and Pleasant

In my opinion this is one of the most unique flavors that Black Note offers. It is very reminiscent of my pipe and cigar smoking days. A little bolder than some of the other blends.

  14. David (verified owner)

    English as Tea.

My favorite pipe tobacco condiment was always Syrian Latakia. My favorite expression of it was McClelland’s Three Oak Syrian. I liked the smoky bread quality it has with out the salmiak after taste a lot of Greek latakias have. I also really liked Westminster by G.L. Pease (which uses a Greek Latakia, but with out the usual black liquorish taste) Quartet is as close as you can get to Three Oak Syrian or perhaps closer to Westminster; without the combustion. Definitely an excellent, if not only, choice for fans of English style pipe tobacco. It is interesting to experience Latakia in this way. It is something entirely new and nostalgic at the same time. Very unique experience.

  15. Donna (verified owner)

From an Ex smoker – Amazing!!!

What an amazing e-liquid. I have been looking for genuine tobacco e-liquid for quite awhile when I discovered Black Note and all their amazing tobacco flavors. Then I tried Quartet and I knew I finally found exactly what I was looking for. I was amazed at the amazing tobacco flavor and the smoothness with total satisfaction. Congratulations Black Note on a job well done. Definitely a 5 star product…

  16. Matthew (verified owner)

    Another Amazing Blend

Initially I tried to get this in 12mg and was disappointed it was only available in 6mg. This all changed when it arrived though. The throat hit is on point with what is expect from 12mg.
On the inhale I get a mildly sweet taste with earth tones and a pleasant aroma. When I exhale the more robust and dry tones come out. Similar to a mild cigar.
Like most of the flavors I have tried, I find this e liquid to be a refreshing change from the overly sweet style e liquid that floods the market. Black Note is to e liquids like fine scotch is to a sweet liquor. I find it to be complex and often cleanses my palate after vaping other non tobacco flavors. I will definitely be keeping this for special occasions.

  17. Doug (verified owner)

Just like the old pipe tobacco

My buddy let me try a tank of this and I will be getting some soon. As a former pipe smoker, I missed the rotating in the bolder latakia blend tobaccos. This is reminiscent to Nightcap with a bit more smokiness. Not everyone is a fan of this type of tobacco but I do enjoy it in between the legato.

  18. Dog

    An Acquired Taste

At first I couldn’t get over the slightly musky aftertaste but after awhile, over the course a few days, it began to grow on me and now I find the vape to be fairly enjoyable.

It’s not the best nor is it the worst, at the most I would say it’s unique!

  19. Joseph (verified owner)

    Graet!

Very Good Liquid, One of the best.

  20. SuicidalLabRat (verified owner)

    Not For Me

While I really appreciate the complexity of this liquid, the notes of leather and spice were too overpowering for me. A little less dry, or a touch of sweet on the finish might balance it; in general its too bold for me.

  21. Renee

    Delicious!

Quartet is a juice that you want to keep on hand for special occasions. It is bold and complex, and doesn’t encourage mindless vaping. It demands attention and appreciation. The closest description that I have would compare it to a fine cigar. Beautiful rich tobacco. Great job, Black Note!

  22. Will E

If you’re gonna go all out go all out

Don’t let the price scare you this is by far top notch. One of closest friends gifted me a small bottle and I must say I was impressed. I put this in a tighter air flow lower wattage tank and enjoyed the sample all day. This surely will be added to my next order.

  23. Michael (verified owner)

    Authentic Smoke

After vaping for almost two years and trying to find authentic tobacco-tasting liquid, this is obviously the real thing. From what I have experimented with and read online, tobacco flavors are the hardest flavors to recreate. The first puff of Quartet proved (again) that this was not a recreation but real tobacco. It has an overwhelming smoke flavor which–as I learned online–is characteristic of Latakia tobacco. If you like an authentic smoky vaping experience, nothing will beat this liquid. I found that if you hold the vapor in your mouth and let it settle on your tongue, you can discern the tobacco through the smoke. To me, it tasted like a nice cigar. A very enjoyable experience. I only wish that it came in stronger nicotine levels. However, I used the 6 mg level to my advantage. When I wanted the vaping experience and flavor without having to worry about getting too much nicotine, I just settled back and vaped away with Quartet, much like enjoying a nice cigar to relax. Clearly, this is another top-notch liquid from Black Note.

  24. mike

not as good as the rest

    not to my liking

  25. Katherine (verified owner)

    Like a fine pipe tobacco!

I found Quartet to have a taste and scent that reminded me of fine pipe tobacco, but as a former cigarette smoker, it was a bit strong for me. Mixed about half and half with one of your milder liquids, it was just right for me.

  26. Geoff (verified owner)

Complex, highly reminiscent of Old Holborn rolling tobacco

    Purchased @ 3mg.
Firstly, this is one that I think opens up better vaped sub ohm. I normally enjoy the black note juices on 1ohm to 1.3ohm builds, but this becomes much more engaging to my palette vaped at 0.5ohm. I used to roll my own cigarettes prior to making the switch to vaping and one of the key reasons I order Black Note juices is the replication of flavour profiles of hand rolled tobaccos. Quartet does a great job with the latakia, robust initial hit with a spice finish, if you’ve ever smoked Old Holborn, it’s pretty much on the money.

Certainly a worthy and interesting creation, pairs well with peaty single malts like Laphroaig. Will I buy again? Not sure @ the current price to be honest. If the price matches the other varieties, it would be a no brainer.

  27. Spencer (verified owner)

Fantastic, but milder than expected, which…..

Is not a bad thing…I was, for whatever reason, expecting Quartet to be very bold and rich and exceedingly complex. Personally I don’t think it is. I found it to be mild and smooth and subtly complex. It’s almost as if you get a slightly different “back-end” flavor at different times of the day. Definitely for someone who loved smoother pipes or cigars. I could see it being an “all-day-vape” for some people as it’s not too rich or overwhelming. That said, maybe save that delicacy for a special occasion?….. Why spend the extra $10 on something you can’t take the time to slowly appreciate? My favorite Black Note liquid has become “Forte”, which I now vape the most of the lineup. It is WAY bolder in intensity but less complex than “Quartet”, and that works for me on a daily basis. So, yeah, to repeat, maybe savor this one for special occasions and make sure you have a mod/tank setup that gives you the most flavor!

  28. Georgie (verified owner)

    (Ex) Smokers Heaven

This blew me away…being two weeks off analogues (thank you Blacknote – amazing – wouldn’t have done it without your e-liquids) Quartet has a true smokey flavor – think cedar, american BBQ and depth for days – as well as great thick clouds, making it my go to if I get a cigarette craving and always a treat. Stocked up on this one despite the price (and I’m on the Australian dollar – eeeek!). A real winner.

  29. Kevan (verified owner)

    Wow

I purchased this expecting the vapor to resemble the smoke of Latakia leaf, it exceeded my expectations so much that I will save it for moments that I would indeed smoke a pipe. Would go well with a nice whiskey

Not to denote it’s spot on smokey and tobacco essence, I wouldn’t recommend this to someone looking for an all day vape or in a transition from smokes.

Totally worth the price if one wishes to grab a LE sample! I say sample because it does cost almost as much as my Jamo and is 1/10th of the size…
Could say that about the price of all e juice, at least I’m not vamping candy anymore!

  30. khalfan (verified owner)

    Good

Good but i think sonata & cadenza are the best for me & cheaper than this

  31. Michael

    Great flavor

I got a free sample of this and waited awhile to try. I just tried it today and its amazing. You got to try it.

  32. Tom (verified owner)

    For the true connoisseur

Years ago I enjoyed smoking a pipe. As is so often the case when exploring adult pleasures (wine, whiskey, tobacco, etc.), a serious pipe smoker eventually graduates from artificial flavors and sickeningly sweet artificial concoctions to quality ingredients and pure flavors. For the pipe smoker, this means English blends. What distinguishes the fine English pipe tobaccos is the addition of Latakia, a powerful jet black tobacco that is unmistakable in its aroma and flavor.

I have not smoked a pipe in several years (it is simply too inconvenient these days), but I’ve never forgotten the deep, rich flavor of Latakia tobacco. When I saw that Blacknote had introduced a Latakia flavor, I immediately ordered a bottle. I wondered just how closely an e-liquid could be to the real thing, but my first sniff when I opened the bottle brought all those memories back. It is the real thing.

It vapes like the real thing, too. Deep, smoky and rich, unlike any other tobacco flavor. I am truly impressed.

It is indeed a potent taste. It is not for everyone. It might even be a bit overwhelming for all-day use. My plan is to mix it perhaps 1:3 with a lighter Blacknote flavor (Credenza is my preference) for daytime and casual vaping; I will still get the distinctive Latakia flavor, just in lighter amounts. After a good dinner, perhaps with a cocktail or glass of wine in the evening, I will take it straight.

If you favor light beer, chardonnay and sugary mixed drinks, Quartet may not be to your liking. If, though, a smoky, peaty single malt scotch straight up, a pint of stout or ale, or a big Malbec are more to your taste, you are going to enjoy Quartet.

The only problem? Why did I have to fall for Blacknote’s most expensive creation?

  33. John (verified owner)

    Good, but…

The flavor is very good, but I’d prefer a higher nicotine level for a stronger throat hit.

  34. Luke (verified owner)

    Closest flavor to actually smoking.

I’ve tried quite a few of the products offered at blacknote, and while all of them were quite enjoyable the Quartet has the closest flavor to actually having a nice smoke. It hides the flavors of the PG and VG, and has a natural smokiness that I can’t find anywhere else in any other product.

    Sublime NET E-liquids

I had previously tried the wonderful NET Black Note e-liquids Prelude, Bravura and Forte and was immensely pleased with level of quality and attention that had been put forth to produce such excellent products. I quickly ordered Sonata and Adagio based on reviews on this site and was equally impressed (all e-liquids vaped at .3 nic). I just received a 30mg .3 bottle of Quartet and must say it is the most unique and flavorful e-liquid I have ever experienced. Bravo Black Note!

    Very Good Liquid! Top Quality!

    Great blend

I am new to this. I just gave up my Newports 2 weeks ago. Being a menthol smoker, naturally, I ordered Solo. Fortunately, BlackNote was out of the 30ml bottle of Solo so they sent me four 7.5ml bottles of Solo and to make up for the “inconvenience” (what a great company), they sent me a 7.5ml bottle of their new Quartet. Well, at first I tried the Solo alone and I found it all menthol and not enough tobacco. Since I had it, I tried blending in some of the Quartet. I found this to be a wonderful, smooth blend that made giving up cigarettes very easy. My brother (not a menthol smoker) ordered some on my recommendation and he also enjoys it. He let me try Prelude (his previous favorite), but I like the smooth flavorful Quartet. I’m just sorry to see that this is a limited edition.

    Did not take any chances

I didn’t take any chances of them running out of Quartet, I just received 15 bottle’s and I am delighted with it. Quartet has a great smoked taste and a warm satisfying vapor. I am not a cloud chaser but Quartet has good vapor production and a smooth exhale. It is by far my favorite of all the Black Note products and that is saying a lot because there all so very good. I have found optimal flavor at about twenty watts in my mini Goblin and I cant leave it alone.

    My Best ever Tobacco experience

    Okay!
I have been smoking tobacco products since 1994. Vaping crushed my smoking habits because it is much safer (in my view) and joyful. Smoking tobacco was (and I’ll say why I used “was”) best with cigarettes because they are balancing the desire of flavor and nicotine. If you ever watch classy people in suites and wearing hats smoking those fine Cigars or holding smoky Pipes you must then think about that attractive tobacco smell that always catch your attention when pass by Cigar or Pipe smoker. Unfortunately, most of us never end up enjoying smoking Cigar or Pipe and never get to that dreamy flavor that is always thought about after passing by Cigar or Pipe smoker.
Ladies and Gentleman, I am pleased to say that the Quatret blend from Black Note made this dream to real life. Quatret is the magical Tobacco blend I have ever taste. When I first tasted it, all the Cigar rooms I have visited cross my memory. Finally, my journey for Tobacco flavor came to end after I vaped what I am starting to call “My Quatret”.
I highly recommend Quatret to all Cigar or Pipe lovers.

Excellent flavor that comes at a price

I really enjoyed the bold, smokey flavor of Quartet. The only thing I really don’t care for is the price. I would give it five stars if it was the same price as the others.

    Quartet

I am in joying it. Quartet it like smoking my old piper the flavor is just Right Great you got right thank black note !

  43. william

    Unique

Very unique flavor. It has a different kind of spiciness, and a bold earthy flavor. Prob not for everyone, and it won’t be an all day Vape for me, but I’m glad I got to try it. It is pricey but if you have the extra cash give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed. Quality as always is top notch. Recommended.

  44. MS (verified owner)

    Quartet

At first I was upset by both the price and the fact that it only comes in 6 mg (I usually like my tobacco flavors at 12 mg), but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised, these guys really know what they are doing! The flavor is very smokey, spicy, and earthy, it is simply fantastic. Well worth the price in my opinion. In fact it is making me rethink getting some of the other flavors that I like in 6 mg instead of what I usually get. I simply love it! I think it is a wonderful addition to an already great ensemble of flavors.

  45. Bruno (verified owner)

    Amazing

Oh my… what a surprise this one and a good one. I basically have to tell myself to put it down or the bottle would be gone for quite a while already.
First tobacco vape I can really direct lung and a very pleasant one. It is very close to the taste of burnt tobacco but maybe not regular cigarettes one more robust.
Yet, I don’t find it too overpowering, just right. I’m rocking this on my minivolt at about 24W with the mini volt atty which coil is at 0.8Ohm and I find it an extremely good combo. I was skeptic at first with the 50/50 PG/VG ratio (I usually go for more vg, the more the better) but I find it is working well giving a good throat hit. While not being a fog machine, it can make decent vapor. that is very satisfying (try blowing O’s hehe)
Why not 5 stars then? well, I have to be realistic, I understand Black Note products are kinda above the rest etc but the price is really high and also it says it’s limited edition so might not be available in the future.
I wish Black Note puts it in the regular portfolio at the regular price (which is already on the high end of the spectrum but every little bit helps)
Now, I have to try this on a dripper… maybe it would be the best way to enjoy this exclusive product without using to much at a time.

  46. Richard

Good unique flavor, but is it worth premium price?

First, I need to thank Black Note for sending me a sample of the new Quartet e-liquid. I only wish they would have sent the sample in the nicotine concentration that I always use, instead of zero nicotine…because nicotine does impart an almost peppery flavor, made it harder to compare to all the other black note flavors that I enjoy. Nonetheless, it has a very multifaceted smoky flavor, a little sweet & spicy. it has a uniquely richer flavor than the other black note options. It tastes great, but it’s a little too sweet for my taste. All in all, I think it’s a great addition to the Black Note line, but the price is a bit steep at $39 a bottle…still a very awesome product by black note. The black note series is the only eliquid I will ever use, simply the best tobacco flavors made today.

    Remenicent of Balkan Sobraine

I am a former cigarette, cigar and pipe smoker. Latakia was used in several pipe tobaccos. Spicy, woodsy, aromatic. This is a perfect adaptation to an e liquid. It is the closest vape you will find to a real tobacco taste.

    Strong Stuff

Wow. This stuff is good but too strong for me to do every day. Maybe with a drink now and again. Reminds me of whiskey!

    Oh so nice!

This is a great blend and worth picking up before it is gone! It has a smokey tones and a great spice to the end. I have enjoyed every puff through my pipe. The smell is subtle and very nice. Thanks Black Note and I am looking forward to your next offering.

The latakia adds a very mild smokey push and a hint of wood to the product, the taste is so good the best for my taste
sadly its a bit expensive , that’s why i put 4 stars except that this product deserve 5 stars
    thx Black note

    Better than sex?

Quartet leaves me breathless and wondering is it the pine like smoke, the delicious, spicy taste and my old companion tobacco? Quartet requires your attention. Time was that this chef spent hours cooking a special meal for a very special friend. She oohed and aahed while eating then said, “This may be better than sex.” All that I could say was, “Let’s find out.” Black Note has created a special friend named Quartet. Is it better than sex? You decide.

  52. Vapester

    Verrry interesting

Quartet is unlike anything I have ever tried before and probably the only one that I sometimes exhale through my nose (TMI), which typically reveals the true flavor of a liquid, at least for me. Having said this, I hope Black Note reduces the price

  53. Adam

Forte is the closest to real Tobacco flavor

I have been looking for an eliquid that is the closest to real Tobacco flavor, and quartet is it!

  54. Caitlin (verified owner)

    BEST!!

For me, this one is well worth the higher price tag. I received a small bottle of it, gratis, with an order of another blend and Quartet just blew me away. I really feel like I’m smoking tobacco with this one. Quartet has a full bodied flavor that is rich and genuinely “smokey” with a nice throat hit. I can see it being my first-thing-in-the-morning and right-after-dinner vape… possibly forever (and I’m still smoking analogs for those two!). If you’re used to lighter smokes, this one might not be for you. For me, this blend might just be the thing to kick analogs for good. Excellent customer service as well!

Very Nice, But Not My Flavor!

I tried quartet when a friend of mine received a sample. I have to say, it is flavorful and robust as promised, but just not my preferred flavor. I go for a blend that is a little more sweet and this is a bit more akin to a liquid with a spicy kick. On the other hand, my friend absolutely loved it. So I guess it’s just whatever your personal taste preferences are.

  56. Jesse (verified owner)

    Smoke so good?

Definitely as advertised, first and foremost very smoky, like a really peaty, earthy whiskey. Spicy also in the mix. Too strong for me,especially the smoke taste, but I am more on the Prelude, Sonata, Adiago end of the spectrum.

Great smoky flavor, I think overpriced but love the flavor.

    Noteworthy!

How do i describe quartet? Characteristically unique. Thanks to the sun-curing and smoke-curing process that delivers the flavor to reach its potential to become a product of balance in sweetness, peppery and smokiness. While some would say quartet is like a mixture of two different black note flavors, I would definitely disagree. There’s something in it that makes this flavor special. I don’t know what is it exactly but give yourself a try. I received 2 quartet samples with a bottle I previously ordered and I immediately liked the exceptional taste. So I purchased this on march 2, the day after it’s been officially up for sale and received them on the 4th of march (fast ship!). Although this is a limited edition, I’m grateful that I already have quartet on hand. I do consider it as an experience, like my travel to Morocco. Bliss! I find quartet very soothing, calming and it’s exclusive taste is legendary and indeed pleasurable!

The Quartet is the best. It has the most tobacco taste I have ever tried. I love it

    Free simple

I ordered Prelude as my first purchase and received Quartet as as sample. I m not sure about Prelude as the jury is still out. I like Quartet, to me, not overpowering at all. Many people have written that this juice is too strong, or words to that effect. To me, not at all, very good. I would like a stronger one. I could use this as a ADV, unfortunatly, I will not be able to afford this juice as I am newly disabled and living on long term disability. I will try all eventually, but will use your juices as a special occasion vape. Great job guys!

  61. Randy

    spicy and earthy

The unique flavors are spicy and earthy, as described, definitely worth trying. Personally I would purchase this at regular price but $39 is a bit high for me.

    Wow!!!

Just received this yesterday! I am very impressed with this juice! It has a very different flavot from the rest of them, you can really taste the smoky flavor and I love it! I will definitely be ordering more! Great job black note you nailed this one!!!!

    Top end spicy flavors

I really like the new Quartet liquid. The unique flavors are spicy and earthy, as described, definitely worth trying. Personally I would purchase this at regular price but $39 is a bit high for me.

    Something special

I received this as a sample and could not have been more impressed. Like all Black note flavors, you can tell it something special that is not offered by any other Ejuice vendor that I know of. It is definitely not as sweet as some of their other flavors. Like others mentioned it has a smokey and spicy flavor to it. I LOVE IT! I constantly try different flavors of Ejuice, and Black note is the only company that I have like all of their flavors, and with the exception of one company’s RY4, it is the only juice I vape. I find their entire line to be clean tasting and pure.

    Not an everyday vape

My first taste left me wondering if this was a mistake. I tasted again several times that day and put it away. Two days later I tried again. That’s when I realized that the flavor was uniquely different. Patience, calmness, and purpose to relax brought about a different perspective. The flavor is unlike any other Black Note product. This one should be savored in those moments calm.

Another remarkable blend by Black Note, smokey Latakia, English pipe, it’s all there!

Another remarkable blend by Black Note! This must be as close as it gets to some of the great British pipe blends that contained Latakia. I hope the limited edition is not too limited – try some while you still can!

    Smoky, spicey, and difficult

This is a very challenging liquid to review. It is completely unlike anything else in the Blacknote line, or any other e-liquid I’ve tried period. The flavor, as others have described, is smoky, peppery, and spicy. However, it is difficult (especially at first) to say whether it is “pleasant”. After vaping a full tank of this (Kanger SubTank with 0.2 ohm coil), I came to the conclusion that while it was definitely a unique, complex blend, it might be a little strong for my tastes. I have however been mixing it 50/50 with Cadenza, which has produced a vape I feel is superior to either alone (if you read my review on Cadenza, you will see that this is quite a statement).

I applaud Blacknote for continuing to challenge themselves as well as their customers with unique, one-of-a-kind NET blends. The price point on Quartet puts me on the fence about it, though I completely understand a one-off, limited run such as this being priced at a premium compared to the standard line. Overall, having vaped this for a few days now, I will rate this a 4 though it is difficult to say whether I “like” this blend or not (confusing, I know). One thing is for certain, it is a challenge to the senses, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. And I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if I found my mouse cursor hovering over the re-order button should it be available still when I need to re-up.

quartet ? did i spell that correctly?

so…..I order the Notebook. Impressed with all its grandeur and flavor abound. Then i order Quartet. This e juice is what I have been looking for in a NET tobacco. The flavor is distinct, very smoky and spice foward. you will not be disappointed!

    Spicy, smoke-peppery Love It

This juice is like fine wine I will tell you though you must steep it with the lid off for a day then vape with a good RDA I don’t recommend using a tank Im using a Velocity RDA and its like drinking expensive Wine. Love this Juice.

  70. Harry Rubb3rball

    Tobacco heaven in a bottle!

Let me start out by saying, the must frustrating aspect of vaping is it’s so subjective, from e-juice, tanks. RDA’s, cotton, devices and what type of wire is best to use. I feel the e-juice is the foundation to successful vaping bliss.

I normally don’t opin about e-juice but, I was completely stunt by the taste of the first sample bottle of Quartet. I spent the first year of vaping chasing down the right e-juice and have been loyal to Vapor Jesus for nearly a year now, had said that I thought I would get out of my comfort zone and try another e-juice and wow I’m glad I did! Black Note is, absolutely the best tobacco e-juice I ever had in my vaping life of two years and excited all my expectations!

    Quartet Update

Black Note has already contacted me for an exchange. (see previous review) On a Saturday! Now that’s service. I really do love the other flavours (Especially Forte) as it reminds me of a mild high quality cigar. I just didn’t care for this liquid. 5 star plus for the great service!

  72. Tim

    Not my cup of tea

I didn’t care much for the strong, smokey barbecue flavor of Quartet. I’ll take Prelude over this one any day of the week. A big thanks to Black Note for sending me the free samples to try, just the same!

  73. Robert (verified owner)

    Quartet Disapointing

Received my order earlier in the week with high expectations, I was hoping for a strong tobacco flavor, but no matter what tank I used….I got a nasty burned taste. I am a devoted “Forte” fan, and very disappointed. With that being said I just don’t care for this flavor. I can’t find any poetic descriptions to match my thoughts. It is very expensive and to me has a harsh almost chemical taste, I didn’t find the slightest taste of tobacco. Just some flavor that was unrecognizable to me. I am going to request a RMA for the unopened bottle, and exchange it for Forte.

  74. John (verified owner)

    Um ok

First off, I love most of the Black Note blends. This tastes more like smoking a spice than a tobacco – somewhere in between paprika and cloves…not my thing.

  75. Craig (verified owner)

WOW – Keep this one on the menu, chef!

Excellent flavor profile. The smoky-peppery notes really shine through, I can pickup the herbal notes from the smoke cure you guys did on this one… superb!

  76. Ryan (verified owner)

    Definitely as described

I was taken aback by this flavor, it’s a bit on the stronger side, but it’s really tasty. I hope this flavor is around for awhile will definitely be ordering again!

  77. Ryan

    As Advertised

I read the review and figured it can’t be that much different from the rest, but it is. I’m not normally one to like the stronger flavors, but even though potent it has a real earthy/spicy taste that is very enjoyable.

    An Additional Note …

In addition to what I posted earlier, I can clearly see why Black Note is offering Quartet with a maximum of 0.6% nicotine. This is a very potent blend! If you are accustomed to 1.2% nicotine, I would suggest you order the 0.3% on this blend! For me, the 0.6% is comparable to 2.4% of any other Black Note blend.

  80. Alan (verified owner)

    WOW! This Really IS Special!

I just received my bottle of Quartet … cleaned my Aspire Nautilus 5ml tank and put a new 1.6 ohm coil in … filled the tank with Quartet … installed the tank on my hand-crafted e-pipe from Peter Kruithof of Australia … and, after just 5 or 6 puffs, determined that THIS is the most flavorful blend of them all! I’ve been puffing away for a half-hour or so now and immediately came to the site to order more. I would just hate to finish this bottle and never be able to get another! Fruity … nutty … wood-smoked flavor, like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. This is pure delight, Black Note – thanks for doing this one!!!

  81. JMM (verified owner)

    Worth the Wait

If you have tried Legato, Sonata and Bravura and you like those you will appreciate Quartet. It offers rich earthy charcoal smoke, peppered sweetness, leather and just a hint of whiskey snap. Quartet will be a special occasion vape for me as it is rather rich and it may be a bit overpowering for some vapers. Slow vaped on .4 ohm, 20 watt, dual claptons, dripped.

  82. Gavin (verified owner)

    Quartet is a Hit!!!

Black Note really nailed the Flavor on This One! A bit of a bite, spicy, but no after-flavor like most other manufacturers on the market. Just a memorable (Medium-Strong) Tobacco taste capable of bringing back fond memories of real Middle-Eastern smokes! If You haven’t tried Quartet yet, you really need to give this one a shot! Not quite as strong as Turkish tobacco, but a close second and much tastier!

  83. Lisa (verified owner)

    Quality & Satisfaction

I placed an order last week and thought all is good…In that order was a few samples of the new Quartet. It was absolutely wonderful. My other preference is Prelude, a very nice tobacco without being overpowering. I loved it. I just thank God for my friend Alan that told me about Black Note.

  84. Daniel

    good stuff

when i first taste it , it mind me of dip called coperhagen.. natural or stight . but in vape form
price is lil to high this company needs to make other smaller sizes.. like 10ml 15ml 120 ml extra.. to reduce price

  85. Tyler

    Truly Unique

Was able to vape this all day with the samples that were sent to me. The quality of this vape is unquestionable. The pricetag seems reasonable for what you get. However, it is all a matter of preference when it comes to what someone will like. It is extremely smokey (think almost like standing in front of a bbq pit), and very peppery. At first I wasn’t thrilled but it grew on me as time passed. For me Sonata and Cadenza are more up my alley but I will probably purchase this to have as a backup. And as always – Quality is immediately evident with all black note products. Top notch.

  86. Julie

    Nice Addition

I was surprised to see a sample of Quartet in the mail and got my little dripper cleaned and wicked up and proceeded to try this Latakia tobacco e liquid. My first impression was that it reminded me of the tobacco I used when I hand rolled my cigarettes (I loved those!) and I absolutely loved this rich, smokey tobacco e liquid. It tastes like a freshly opened pouch of shag tobacco. I would say it is the ‘single malt scotch’ of e liquids, and the price reflects that. I would buy a bottle to use in my dripper exclusively as I would go through it too fast in a tank to make it worthwhile.

  87. Jack

    Collosal

With all the poets chanting odes about stuff that is not alien made or God given; I thought of writing my own. Folks! this is a rich, flavory e-liquid, it is neither out of this world or fabulous as one said above; it does vape well, it is tasty but also costs triple than what is worth or just about anyone else sells.

    Quartet Review

Background History: Sub-Ohm Vaper, Use Black Note products exclusively. Order of preference prior to Quartet release: (1) Prelude, (2) Sonata, (3) Bravura. Pros: Full bodied but very smooth, matches well at night with favorite adult beverage. Cons: Premium pricing, limited nicotine levels available. Conclusion: Moved to my No. 2 preference (along with Sonata), if pricing of both were equivalent.

  89. Patrick

    Disappointed

An already extremely expensive juice line sends out a free sample. I can’t complain it’s free. The juice. To me it tasted smokey with an earthy almost hay flavor. It wasn’t horrible, it certainly wasn’t $10 more per bottle good. My samples were zero and .06 nicotine level. This was disappointing as I couldn’t give them an all day test. It is certainly worth free, not worth $40 per bottle.

  90. Matthew (verified owner)

    excellent addition

Good to see some new flavor in the mix. This is kinda tastes like they mixed bravura with cadenza with prelude and called it latakia. I don’t care how they made it, it’s fabulous! Excellent flavor but not overwhelming.

    A Dark Smokey Delight

I received my two samples of Quartet in the mail today. I filled a fresh Nautilus Tank with Temp Control set at 460F, and pulled away. I immediately fell in love with the dark smokey spicy flavor with yet just a hint of sweetness in the background. I don’t know how they do it, but they hit a home run with this one. Orders to follow. Black Note is the top of the line as far as tobacco’s are concerned, and I am always impressed with their openness about lab reports. It gives me confidence that I am putting a pretty pure product in my lungs. The taste is excellent for those of us who love campfires and a hint of spice and sugar maple. Wonderful product.

  92. Victor

    As advertised.

Very smokey and spicey. I was excited to order it until I discovered the price. I would have given it 5 stars like the rest, but I took a star away for value. It isn’t overwhelmingly superior to the rest of their line. If I didn’t have reward points to use up, I wouldn’t purchase this. $29 for 30 ml is already pretty expensive, I need to draw the line somewhere.

    Outstanding

First off I was very surprised to find a Black Note package in my mail on 2/26. That I was not expecting. Imagine my Complete Surprise to find two samples of Quartet. 0.0 and 0.6 nic. Well just had to try this right away. cleaned up my fav dripper and rewicked. How dose the team at Black Note do it . And more to the point is how they can ever top this grand achievement. Smokey, earthy. spicy and slightly sweet on the exhale. Truly a masterpiece worthy of a standing ovation. It will be a very sad day indeed when the last bottle is sold. You can bet I will buying as much as I can afford. Thank you Black Note. many times over.

Spicy, smoke-peppery – Just like it says.

Thank you for sending some sample for me to try.
As it says in the description, this is spicy, smoky-peppery taste. It was a bit too spicy for me by itself though.
I normally vape Bravura, I like it but it is a bit too sweet for my taste. But when I mixed Bravura (2/3) with Quartet (1/3) it was almost perfect!

  95. Spencer

Do you enjoy wood smoke or Lapsang Souchong?

Advertised as a “flavorfully spicy blend” with a “smoky-peppery taste & aroma”, from the first puff, I can see it. With Latakia, that smokiness typically comes from being cured over a wood fire, and the smokiness definitely rears its head in this juice. If you started vaping to get away from the aroma and flavor of smoke, then this juice might not be for you. But, if you love that woodsy, dark, rich, aromatically-smoky (like a Lapsang Souchong tea) taste – check out this juice. (Just to clarify, there is no burning tobacco flavor or smell.) In the bottle, it smells mellow, though with plenty of fire-cured notes. There is a bit of sweetness there, too. Vaping this on a single coil, 24awg Kanthal at 5W and 1.0 ohms, I get smoky flavor, not very spicy, with some underlying sweetness. Kicking it up to 10W, some spiciness is complementary to the slightly heavier smoke-flavors and aromas. This Latakia blend is super aromatic, and I love it. Imagine the smell of a tobacco pipe, after it has been used to smoke a Latakia tobacco and built-up a cake in the bowl…this juice embodies that. Decent, though not incredibly thick vapor production. The 0mg has no throat hit to speak of, while the 3mg kicks hard (relatively-speaking for a 3mg), given the other flavors and how the throat hit goes with the smokiness.
TL;DR – Do you enjoy wood smoke aromas? Do you enjoy Lapsang Souchong tea? Do you enjoy Latakia? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then try this delicious juice.

    imagine my delight !

I received my first, not last bottle of Quartet today and I could not wait to rush home and fill my mini goblin with this nectar. To me it is rich and full bodied and not at all harsh. The lung hit is so satisfying and fulfilling with good vapor production, no cigarette ever felt this good, this is truly an all day vape ! My only complaint is I like a higher nicotine level. But for the pleasure of the vape experience I can wait for the higher nicotine level to come out. When I get my income tax refund, I am all over this! God Bless

    Delicate and Complex

Andy, from Black Note was kind enough to send me a sample of the 0.6% Quartet. I draw from a TC40Watt Eleaf. The first draw was rich with a polite sting to the back of the throat. The intoxicating nicotine from Black Note denotes the craftsmanship and purity they put in to the product. So glad someone had the wherwithal to consider a market for a more connesiuer style vape offering. The flavor palate is extremely complex, giving ways to leather, oak, the earth (soil). Not sure how these guys pulled this off but I recomend it. Light pepper, and of course tobacco accents are braided gently through the vapor.

  99. Nancy (verified owner)

    Nothing sweet here

I just got a sample of quartet with my order. Was anxious to try it. It definitely carries the sun dried taste. It seems like a stronger tobacco taste than what I have been using so at first I wasn’t too sure about it. But like so many of the black note flavors, it is unique in its own way and tends to grow on you. The jury is still out on whether I will order it, I’m still sold on the prelude, but with a glass of wine this just might hit the spot!

  100. James

    Love it-top of line

Everyone is worried about the nicotine rate-are you kidding, this is a like a fine wine. You draw it in slowly and enjoy the moment. If I hadn’t just ordered i would be putting this at the front of my list.
