If you came from a pipe blend or a dark, smoky cigarette, most “tobacco” e-liquids will taste thin and sweet to you. Latakia is the one with real smoke in it. The tobacco is sun-cured, then smoke-cured over fires of fragrant wood, and it comes out bold and peppery, with deep campfire and spice notes.

Known as Quartet in the Black Note collection, it’s made the way all of our e-liquid is made: naturally extracted from real tobacco leaf, with no artificial flavors, no sweeteners, and no synthetic nicotine.

Choose your formulation

50VG/50PG: the everyday version, smooth in MTL pods and low-wattage devices. 60mL. This is the all-day Latakia for most people.
70VG/30PG: more VG for bigger vapor in sub-ohm setups. 60mL.
Salt nicotine: smoother at higher strengths, made for pod devices. A good fit if you’re coming off a pack or more a day and want a stronger, easy pull. 30mL.

There are no sweeteners in any of them, so there’s less coil gunk and your coils last longer, whichever one you pick.

Where Latakia comes from

Latakia started as an accident. Farmers in Ottoman-era Northern Syria stored surplus tobacco at home over winter, and the leaves took on the smoke from their wood fires. The result tasted so good that smoke-curing became the point. We make ours the traditional way, then age the tobacco for about five years, so the smoke and pepper settle into something complex instead of harsh.

What does Latakia Tobacco taste like?

Bold, smoky, and peppery, with deep campfire and spice notes. It reads like a rich pipe tobacco or a dark cigarette, not a sweetened “tobacco” flavor.

Why is it called Quartet?

Our blends originally carried musical names, and Latakia’s was Quartet. The page address still says quartet, and some older reviews use the name. Same blend, same liquid.

What's the difference between 50/50, 70/30, and salt?

50VG/50PG is smooth in MTL pods and low-wattage devices. 70VG/30PG has more VG for bigger vapor in sub-ohm setups. Salt nicotine comes in higher strengths and gives a smoother pull in pod devices. New to these numbers? VG (vegetable glycerin) and PG (propylene glycol) are the two liquids that make up every e-liquid, ours included. The ratio is just how much of each: more VG makes for thicker vapor and bigger clouds, more PG carries flavor and feels a little sharper.

Which one should I choose?

Most people do best on the 50VG/50PG for an all-day vape. Pick 70VG/30PG if you use a sub-ohm device and want more vapor. Choose salt if you want a stronger, smoother hit in a pod. Still unsure? Take the Vape Quiz.

How is Latakia made?

It’s double-cured. The tobacco is sun-cured first, then smoke-cured over fires of fragrant wood, which is where the smoky, peppery character comes from. Then it’s aged for about five years and naturally extracted from the real leaf, with no artificial flavors, no sweeteners, and no synthetic nicotine.

What nicotine strengths are available?

Freebase (50VG/50PG and 70VG/30PG) comes in 0, 3, 6, 12, and 18 mg in a 60mL bottle. Salt nicotine comes in 20, 30, and 50 mg in a 30mL bottle.

What device works best?

An MTL pod or low-wattage device such as the Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini for the 50VG/50PG and salt. If you prefer more vapor, the 70VG/30PG suits a sub-ohm device.

My favorite vape

Though the cost of enjoying it is my having to rebuild more frequently. (I employ SS mesh with a kanthal wire coil). No, not the cleanest burning, but the flavor is the best I've experienced.

What an exotic and exquisite flavor

I have tried all the Black Note blends now, and this is the one I'd always miss. Not my all-day Black Note flavor now (American Blend is), but I always think to get back to Latakia. Sort of like a pipe tobacco or a cigar for special occasions. In DTL sub-ohm tanks, I find it on sweeter side, which I don't prefer, but with that exquisite flavor, I always long for it from time to time. I could go on for a while without trying the other flavors, but not Latakia. It seems this flavor is the most worth it as it's an exotic and a tobacco variety on the rarer side, but you can get at the same price and with more substantial flavor put in the eliquid. Black Note is really awesome. Keep up the outstanding work. Very much appreciated. Cheers

Smokey Smokey

The mixture is obviously high quality, and certainly fits the description of a Smokey tobacco flavor. Personally, I prefer some of the other blends more, but that’s a subjective matter of personal taste and preferences. The liquid itself is very smooth vaping … a bit campfire-ish in its Smokey character, with distinct tobacco flavor. And the 70/30 18mg vapes very well at low wattage with a zenith II tank, 1.2 ohm coil at 10-12 watts. I gave it 5 stars because of quality and it fitting the profile description. It’s a shame when someone gives a low rating to something simply because they may prefer other flavors. The product itself deserves to be rated based on its high quality. I imagine this might serve as a fine addition to mix with a milder flavor to spice things up a notch.

Best oil around!!!

Absolutely the best vaping oil anywhere... Best taste, closest thing to an actual cigarette... I can probably get about a week out of a coil using 1.5 - 2.1 ohm coils which I would consider ok.... All in all an excellent experience... Thumbs up BlackNote...

Pleasantly surprised!

I just switched over from cigarettes to vaping . But, in the past I’ve smoked a pipe! And I’ve always loved the smokey flavor of Latakia! My first taste was absolutely amazing! Now, if Dark Note came out with a Balkan blend I’d truly would love that! But, this Latakia tastes wonderful and the nice thing is the smell doesn’t linger like a pipe of Latakia does. So, nobody will complain! Love it!!!!!
