A Guide To Vaping Apps and Calculators
Smartphone apps are everywhere. Most major retailers have them, they tell you the news and provide a source of entertainment, but they are also important tools. There are a number of vaping apps and calculators that are incredible tools any e-cigarette aficionado will need. Vaping apps cover a wide range of utilities that you wouldn’t necessarily know you’ll need until you’ve tried them.
There are so many different apps that are relevant to vapers, but they generally come under three categories. Namely, savings calculators/quitting tools, Ohm’s law/coil builders and apps that do a bit of everything. We will stick with these distinctions in order to help you find the ones most relevant for you. These are just some of the many apps available that will make a vapers life even easier.
Savings Apps and Quitting Tools
These are the most straightforward tools and are there to help you keep track of how many cigarettes you’ve avoided and the amount of money saved.
E-Cig Diary (Android)
This simple android only app covers everything you need from a savings calculator. It counts the number of days you have gone smoke-free and using this tells you how many cigarettes you’ve avoided. It also calculates your total saving by missing them out (although this is only available in Euros at the moment). There are some other features such as estimating battery life and an Ohm’s la calculator. But as this is a free app, you will need to click on some add-ons to unlock these features.
A much more user friendly version of the E-cig diary. As well as all the usual features, this app will also update you on how your body is changing thanks to quitting smoking. So it will tell you when your oxygen levels have returned to normal or when your lung capacity has improved. This app also has achievements, which may sound corny, but it is a great way to stay on track and will encourage you to stay smoke free.
With many of the same features as Vape, this will help to ensure you progress to become smoke free. However, the user interface is much more appealing. There is also a community function where you can get support and tips from other users. This comes in really handy when you have a question you can’t find the answer to or simply need a bit of support. The app is available on both iOS and Android.
This takes a more evidence based approach to quitting. It will give you little tips to get you through both cravings and the process of quitting. The developers are also collecting anonymous data in order to find the best way to quit and improve the tips they provide.
For more experienced vapers, a calculator is essential. Ohm’s law, while not overly complicated, is a pain to work out. These vaping apps are also good for calculating battery time and coil building.
Ohm’s Law (iOS)
This iOS app is the most straightforward Ohm’s law calculator around. You simply enter any two values and it will calculate the others. This can be voltage, wattage, resistance or current. This app is completely free and a must for anyone who regularly calculates Ohm’s law.
Any vaper who builds their own coils needs this app. Simply fill in the details about the coil you hope to build and it will tell you the resistance. All it needs to know are the number of wraps, coil diameter, material and set up. The app will also calculate wattage and current if you add the voltage. There are loads of other features too; you can share coils with the app community and get information about battery life. It also tells you how to build a coil based on the heat coefficient. It may cost a few bucks but you won’t need any other calculator.
Vapers Toolbox (Android)
It may not be the best looking app, but it works exactly how you would expect. Simply enter details about the coil you hope to build and it will tell you how much wire you need to cut. You can also use it to calculate the number of wraps you need. There is also an Ohm’s law calculator built in to the app. It may only be on Android but it is completely free and easy to use.
Multipurpose Vape Calculators
You may not want lots of vaping apps which is where having one app that can do everything comes in really handy.
This app literally does everything. You can calculate coils and ohm’s law. It also has a feature that lets you design your own e-liquid. It doesn’t look very attractive and is only on Android, but it is useful and completely free.
Sweet Spot (Android)
Not only does this have all calculation features you could possibly need, but it also includes a nicotine counter which will compare your intake as a smoker and a vaper. There is also a savings tracker, cigarette counter and smoke free days’ counter. The interface is by far and away the simplest, with the only real drawback being its age (2013) which means sometimes it doesn’t recognize higher voltages.
This is just a small selection of the hundreds of vaping apps that are available on the market. Do you have a favorite? Share it with us in the comments and on our social media pages.
